Goddamn! Listening to this record is like a whippet high! For those of you who don’t know what that is: good for you. For those of you in the know, this record is short (just above thirty minutes), loud, fun, and a total rush. But just like that, the record is over and I’m left pretty indifferent to the whole experience. While the Hot Snakes contain two members of my favorite post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu, the Hot Snakes remain closer to guitarist Speedo’s punk 'n' roll throwback band Rocket From The Crypt. Drive Like Jehu was epic with songs reaching ten minutes and mathy as hell. This band reminds me of Scream, Dracula, Scream! where the songs are much shorter and straight ahead 4/4 rockers and are really really repetitive in a totally good way.

Whoever said the word on the street was that the tour was horrible, i dont know budddddy i saw them in Arizona and they did what they came to do, rooooock! Not a perfect record, but still one of the tops of 2004. oh man whippits yay the Hot Snakes are the best fucking thing on earth right now. i don't know if they'll ever again write a song as great as "If Credit's What Matters I'll Take Credit" though. The review made me not want to buy this. Awesome. i have a copy of this CD, I've listened to it a few times, I always notice the "think about Carbs" song, but other than that... ho-hum. I loved "Automatic Midnight", but this one... I don't know. Not great, not horrible, just never grabbed me. that's all I can really say. This is a four-star record. Dude, whippits are so highschool. If the whip cream does come out it's all watery and not good anyways. I listened to this album again and I don't know why i kept saying the album was "fun." I think i was tired from studying for finals but there are some evil sounding riffs on this cd. Also, I've only heard scream dracula scream and the cds released on Vagrant and i think it's fair to say scream dracula blows those away. I hope to one day pick up circa now. since we're talking about rocket...circa now is a fun album. hot snakes own. suicide invoice is good. so is audit. at least a real rock record got a review here. Not as good as Suicide Invoice or Automatic Midnight, but still great. Can you believe Scott gave Suicide Invoice only 2 stars when it came out?!? That's just plain wrong. i dunno, i always thought scream dracula scream was one of RFTC's weaker albums. Great album. Good review. This score is for whippits!! well like I said there are no lyrics included and I did see the review for Pitchfork. Haha i was positive he was saying boxes boxes boxes too, before i read their review. Oh well my point was that the lyrics don't really make sense sometimes and i don't think this changes that. all i'll say is that i like my favorite songs off of "suicide invoice" more than my favorite songs off of this. Audit in Progress is better than Suicide Invoice. Only a retard would disagree with me. 3 Points to addres: one of the best releases this year for sure. best band this sad excuse for a site has reviewed. unfornately, bands like i can make a mess liken nobodys business somehow are scaled the same with these guys. you stupid trend hoppin' bitches, this is rock, no pussy bullshit. This is one of the better albums I've listened to recently. I hate you Kenjamin. But not really so i should be kicking myself for missing them on tour? The word on the street was that they weren't too good on this tour, the opening bands were horrible, and tickets were a bit pricey. I waited till the last minute and the show sold out. bummer. Probably a good thing i didn't go though, I probably couldn't have stopped myself from requesting DLJ songs. If Hoover can do a reunion show, then so can Jehu. i don't think rick fork's lyrics have EVER made sense. anyways, i haven't heard this yet, but i liked suicide invoice a hell of a lot more than automatic midnight. I agree with the reviewer that the long term play value just isn't there. Fun for a couple of listens at best, and a great live band. At this site 3.5 doesn't equal four just becuase it is close. This is a five star record. Fuck you for being an idiot. Score is for one of the best of hte year. You're right about the production though. It is pretty top notch. I dunno, it wasn't like a Shellac reocrd quality or anything. It just kind of slipped my mind and honestly, Drive like Jehu is my favorite band of all time. I have to be harsh. 3.5 stars, 4 stars... what's the difference? It's just a number. This isn't Pitchfork with their 7.7 I even added a song link. Damn, that's dedication. score is for the album (which reminds me, i need to write a review for "automatic midnight") kenjamin, go fuck yourself. worst.review.EVAR! ditto to what chinatown said This is a four-star record. |
