MestMest: Wasting TimeWasting Time (2000)Warner Music Group Reviewer Rating: 3.5 User Rating: Contributed by: RobHaineaultRob Haineault (others by this writer | submit your own) Hey y'all this is my first review ever, so it will probably suck which is the total opposite of this album. The first time I heard of this band was at the Goldfinger website. And it said that John Feldmann (Goldfinger's frontman) recently produced a record for Mest. I was thinking "Who the hell is M. Hey y'all this is my first review ever, so it will probably suck which is the total opposite of this album. The first time I heard of this band was at the Goldfinger website. And it said that John Feldmann (Goldfinger's frontman) recently produced a record for Mest. I was thinking "Who the hell is Mest?" So I downloaded a song by them. After I heard "Drawing Board" (The song I downloaded) I loved it, so I went out to the record store and bought this cd. Well, as I listen to it right now, about a half a year after I first bought it, it is still as great as when I first heard it. "Wasting Time" by Mest is a great cd if you are a fan of Showoff or Goldfinger. It sounds an awful lot like Showoff, but I personally find better. I find this album would fit into the punk/ska genre. Although there are no horns on this album, there are alot of ska upstrokes on certain tracks. To give you a good idea of the songs on this cd and what they are all about, I will review every song:
1)Long Days Long Nights- An ok song, the first few times you hea it, it is great, but I find it becomes more boring to listen to the more you listen to it.
Ok, yeah so this review is done pretty much. I know it probably sucked but whatever this is my first and the main thing is that the album does not suck. I suggest you go buy this record like... now! Mest also have a new album coming out in January 2002 titled "Destination Unknown." You can go get the MP3 of the first single of that cd at Mest's official website! Thanks. i absolutely love this album omfg i adore mest so much! visit my site about tony! http://www.myspace.com/tonylovato_tribute Mest rocks i love the song girl for tonight its so cute. Tony, Jere, Matt, Nick I love ya. Matt your beautiful I Love you. MEST ROCKS MEST isnt pop punk. How punk can you be when half of your audience is made up of little screaming preteen girls. Screeching Weasel and the Descendents are true pop punk. MEST is pussy punk. MEST isnt pop punk. How punk can you be when have of your audience is made up of little screaming preteen girls. Screeching Weasel and the Descendents are true pop punk. MEST is pussy punk. havent heard showoff, goldfinger are sellouts (big time) who i got bored of extremely fast anyway, MEST is alright though "What's the Dillio" is fuckin retarded also for those of u dissing whats the dillio, they hate the song too. feldman made them put it on. tony wrote it as a joke when he was like 16, it didnt even make the cut of their first album. feldman made them play all their songs when he signed them, to see if they had any old material he wanted to rerelease. dillio, random adn slow motion are all old songs. although mest is completely unoriginal, they still kick ass at what they do. they combine dookie era greenday, and goldfinger (feldman signed and produced the album too) to be one of the best poppunk outfits out there, def. better than showoff, goldfinger or new greenday. def. better than blink.they did name the new album after a rancid song. theres also some old song off mo money mo forty's cd that has a rancid line in it. its just giving props. bands do this all the time.great live too. mest!!!LOL Whats the dillio the dillio the dillio HAHA They suck homies! I like this album even though it is pretty poppy (but doesnt sound like goldfinger at all). I do however have a huge problem with this record. That is the lyrics. They dont get more general than this folks. And like the guy said below sometimes it seems that the lyrics just dont make sense. All in all the music makes up for the quite dull lyrics and its one of those bands that people will either love to hate or just love them. On a side note that review was pretty bad and i understand the whole first review thing but for future help explain the sounds and lyrics of the songs instead of this was a weak, and oh, this song was my favorite. Anyway check out the band "Far." Now thats a band. -Rock I dunno about their album cause I've never heard it, but live? Oh they suck. They were one of the opening bands at a concert I saw yesterday, and I've gotta say that I enjoyed Lefty (the other band opening) MUCH more than Mest. Of course, I noticed more people cheered for Mest. It's a personal thing. next time you go see this band ask 'em to tell you about the old band the singer was in "Confederate Storm"! wastin time is a pretty cool album for me. cause i can relate to it just like any existing punk music here in the planet. i dont care what you say bout them wether they suck or not. everyone has different taste,so just shut the fuck up!! I just want to say that everyone how things MEST and their album sucks are completely fuckers. What the hell are u guys talking about? This Album is FUCKIN' AWESOME. I bought the CD when I knew that John Feldmann produced it cuz I think that Goldfinger and Mest are the two best bands out there. And they aren't that popular in Germany, but i know them and their just fucking awesome. Forget about all the other bands. MEST and GOLDFINGER kick ass... its simple. if u like catchy poppy stuff then you'll love this. if u dont, u wont. Ok. I've seen everyone bashing and praising the hell out of this album. But really, most of these comments piss me off because they really have no real supporting evidence worth shit. Anyways...Lemme just say that this album is OK as fuck. Mainly, I know that some of the songs are kinda catchy, but they're pretty unoriginal. But also, this would sound exactly as if they played live. So if you're looking for good performers, here you go. Another thing is that some of the lyrics really don't make sense "my electric guitar, and my electric girl". C'mon, wtf does that mean? I'd like to refer to people to are being introduce to punk mainly. Like what Green Day and *silence* Blink 182 did to me. Because it helped introduced me alittle to the genre and lead me to other good music. Boy i can't wait for the new june spirit record to come out..... Emo rules! that dude on the bottom's right,Lagwagon is better than Mest, but if u want to listen to a really good band, check out the band Sorry About Tomorrow and their single, "I'm not perfect, but he's not either"... If u dont care why did u post a msg at a MEST review, your a bright one dumbass, MEST RULES! these guys suck. terrible cd. who's writing these reviews? is it the guy from goldfinger? Mest are a TERRIBLE band. They should really work on not sounding like Goldfinger. For a band that puts on a great live show, this is a week album. It's over produced and nothing on it seperates it from the latest batch of major label pop punk acts that have been signed as of late... Yeah dude, I mean "Random Arrival" is still a great song, in fact Im listening to it right now, but I personally find many of the other songs on this release are better. It still kicks though. well I cant put down mest cuz i have never heard em....but showoff blows. i'd have to agree, random arrival is a pretty damn good song. their first album has the same name as a blink song, and their new album is the line from ruby soho! how unoriginal can you get? what's their third album gonna be, "Welcome to Paradise"? Come on, think for yourselves boys.- fathead |
