Strike Anywhere is arguably one of the most important bands in punk/hardcore in recent years. Despite the mildly lackluster Exit English album, Chorus Of One on No Idea/Red Leader and Change Is A Sound on Jade Tree remain incredibly solid releases. Before I had ever even heard them, I saw them opening for the Bouncing Souls about a year and a half ago and was truly blown away by the energy/chemistry/etc. that they had on stage (blah, blah, blah).

The vocal on Two fuse fucking sucks you bastard ! Exit english is 200% better than all the crap on this (except for the Chorus of ONe Ep) I dunno, I thinks that Jones dude is far more annoying. But both of them make me laugh, especially the responses they ellicit. Hahaha, this shit is hilarious. Why do people hate Chinatown so much, did i miss something? Did he eat Jesus or sometthing? Sorry, I thought a cat qualified as a rodent until I looked it up. but what KIND of rodents were they? The most live rodents I ever fitted in my ass... was four. I think anyone cares if someone is impersonating me, even though my posts are usually worse that theirs. This album is without a doubt the equivalent of chorus of one. if i had to choose between both, i'd take them both. its that simple. oh, and this album is incredible as well, get it. If all of Exit English was as good as 1,2,5,7,and 12 on the CD (I could figure out the song names but I'm lazy) it would have probably surpassed everything they'd done before. As it is I like it about equally as much as Change is a Sound and ti was definitely my favorite from 2003 at the end of 2003. About the Loved Ones: Strike Anywhere is the only good band on Jade Tree. Score is for Strike Anywhere. So because No Idea couldn't have them all to theirselves they wanna bitch? Your story seems highly unlikely, as TONS of bands do 1-shot releases with No Idea. "The Loved Ones = mediocre city" The Loved Ones = mediocre city "Apparently you haven't heard the new Paint It Black yet. Apparently you haven't heard the new Paint It Black yet. Strike Anywhere is the only good band on Jade Tree. Score is for Strike Anywhere. A Music Revolution definitely deserves a rerelease, as popular as Strike Anywhere are getting. Maybe even Broken Songs too. I'd much rather hear these than Chorus of One all over again. Yeah, how many bands do you know of from Richmond that did stuff with No Idea? i hope the play the GB cover in Philly. For all the "how'd they fuck over No Idea?" questions.... if sickboi is referring to the richmond show last night, which i think he is, they played the gorilla biscuits cover song. last night's richmond show was one of the best strike shows i've seen in a long, long time. insane crazy time. Can't wait for the show on sunday! If you were referring to the EP, it was originally released on a very small label (the name escapes me, I think "Red Flag" or some shit) and has been out of print for some time." "How did they fuck over No Idea? If you were referring to the EP, it was originally released on a very small label (the name escapes me, I think "Red Flag" or some shit) and has been out of print for some time." this is the CD that comes with free gillette razors right? what the fuck? They did "Notes On Pulling The Sky Down" and started "Cassandratic Equation", a fight broke out, so they stopped it, then started it, made it to the bridge, then another fight broke out AGAIN, so, they stopped, then just started another song. They also did one of the covers, but I don't remember which one. sickboi-did they play any songs off chorus of one or this record? How did they fuck over No Idea? If you were referring to the EP, it was originally released on a very small label (the name escapes me, I think "Red Flag" or some shit) and has been out of print for some time. Way to fuck over No Idea yet again with this release, guys. I caught the Richmond show last night (review to come) and they were on point. Loved Ones rocked like it was no one's business. That's definitely not "hot pink." Yeah, I really can't see what people find so disappointing in Exit English. It's not like the band lost energy or even changed the tempo - a lot of Change is midway paces, not always explosively fast or fiercely aggressive. Despite the mildly lackluster Exit English album, ... Exit English was good but I thought it lost a little bit of the catchiness and sheer explosiveness that made Change is a Sound so great. I don't listen to that record nearly as much as I do Change is a Sound. Inquisition is still a better band. I can't believe people didn't like Exit English. I bought Change is a sound a few years ago, and I instantly fell in love with this band. A bit later, I got Chorus of one, and I was pretty disappointed with it. There are some great tracks on there, and you can definitely see that they had a bright future ahead of them. I was quite excited leading up to the release of Exit English, and that album more than delivered. It was easily my most listened too cd for over 6 months, and one of my all time favorite albums. I eagerly anticipated this album, hoping for a lot of outtakes from Change and Exit English. Then I found out that it was going to have the chorus of one ep on it, and only a couple of tracks from change and Exit english sessions. I was disappointed, but picked it up nonetheless. If you loved chorus of one, you'll probably love this cd. But I did not, and I do not love this cd. Two fuses is a great track, but the rest of the cd is pretty average. Starts off good, but the older outtakes and covers, I just can't get into them. If you want to get a strike anywhere cd, I would definitely say get Exit English first, then Change, then this one if you really loved the first two albums. Exit english was my favorite record of last year, even though I got it in 2003! more bands should cover cock sparrer. best oi band ever? i thought chorus of one is now out of print, but copies are still on the market This band is so bad..... I downloaded "Two Fuses" and I was disappointed. Didn't seem like the chorus and verse ever really clicked. I'm still ambivalent about buying this. I'll probably wait until summer when I can get a job. Nice review, alot better than the previous Still turned off of this band since hearing "to the world" on Rock Against Bush. *shudder* "Before I had ever even heard them, I saw them opening for the Bouncing Souls about a year and a half ago and was truly blown away by the energy/chemistry/etc. that they had on stage (blah, blah, blah). " call it sacrelige--i just don't "get" this band. what is the big deal? Chorus of One was my introduction to this band followed shortly by seeing them in a basement in seattle. Even though they were stricken with painful diarhea (seriously) they fully rocked a basement with a 7 foot ceiling filled with 75 kids in one of the few sweltering summer nights of Seattle. I played that EP more times than I'm able to count. It was a powerful statement screamed with a unique voice. A statement that has yet to be followed up by any of their other releases...period. Starting with the first full length I felt like they were rehashing the few songs they already had out tangling them with some serious filler. Exit English is worse. There's some serious wheel spinning going on with these guys. Like so many bands with crucial first records they're riding the wave it started surfing on their later substandard material. However this material is where it's at. A document of great potential not yet realized. i really like the b-side from the exit english sessions. Pretty superificial reason to like something, Chinatown. ***Mandatory 4 stars for a Jade Tree release*** |
