For those who have just been introduced to Hopesfall by way of the album A-Types, you must be forwarned: this is a completely different band. Instead of the light guitar-rock band, we have a "metalcore" band that has drawn comparisons (if unfair) to bands such as Poison The Well and From Autumn To Ashes. This is the band's second release, following their Takehold Records debut The Frailty of Words. It is a four-song EP, and it includes the songs "Open Hands To the Wind," "April Left With Silence," "The End Of An Era," and "The Far Pavilions." Despite being only four tracks, the EP is worth buying. Some consider "The End of an Era" to be one of the greatest songs of the whole "metallic hardcore" genre.

underoath did go downhill. my fav band! crazy ep Ok so for an album as a whole, then its a 4 the fact that you mentioned "the highlights of this album" make it seem that some parts were better than others, clearly seeming that this is by no means a perfect score. The first time I ever saw Hopesfall was with the Juliana Theory and Snapcase. A friend of mine wanted to buy their cd, but didn't know what band they were and ended up buying a Juliana Theory cd by mistake. When he eventually realised his mistake he went back to J/T's merch tablet and said "Yeah..I thought you guys were the other band. Can I get my money back?" I always thought that was kinda funny. With everything in this review you are so damn right! This EP is incredibly solid. changing you lead singer usually means change in sound. BLAH fuck that change the band name if you're gonna do that a few lineup technicalites - this ep does not have the same lineup as the frailty of words. almost, but there was a different bass player. adam the drummer may have recorded a-types, i don't have it so i'm not sure, but he is definitely not in the band now. the only original member (or member from this e.p. for that matter) is the guitarist mentioned in the review. Everything before A-Types is a ten -thelonerangers this ep really is fucking great. no one should ever use the word "flippin" in place of "fuckin." i hate that movie so much. hey, constanza, this ep is pretty flippin' close to a 10 in my estimation, also... Funny I just dusted off the mothballs on Satelite Years yesterday. That album was pretty good, Far Pavillions being one off the best songs off it, along with Waitress. A Types=not so good. Underoath is not good. Can anyone think of an EP that actually deserves a 10 star rating? they did put out a full length with this lineup-the frailty of words One of the greatest EPs I've ever heard. If they had put out a full length with this lineup it would have been incredible. This cd is better than anything Poison the Well of FATA ever did. Jesus, it seems like all these bands are going downhill Almost no original members, totally different sound and style, it's time to just give up and change the band's name, because A-Types isn't Hopesfall... this EP is Hopesfall. I'd still skip them pacer. Looking forward to seeing these guys at Groezrock now, was gonna skip them but this review makes it sound like they'll be worth seeing. I don't care that Hopesfall ain't my bag anymore, but this EP is the best EP I've ever heard. Phenomenal. Many people may disregard this cuz it's hopesfall and they 'sold out' or whatever, but this EP is the shizznat. I wish this singer stayed in the band, and then maybe everything would have been alright. Listen to this shit man, it was out before all that autumn to ashes bullshit. holy shit, it's an EP? come on, man! man for a second there i thought we'd go a whole review cycle without and 5-star "instant classic" albums, but i guess i was wrong. i didn't even read the review, but i can say with complete certainty that this album isn't worth a 10/10. adam was the drummer on this cd, and is still the drummer. i own all of their cds, and he's in the credits for each of them. A-Types isn't that bad... woops forgot a score. the end of an era is one of the best "emocore" songs of all time. that song got me through my shitty prom. Pretty good metalcore/emocore album ive never been a huge fan of this genre of music but ive always liked hopesfall(except for a-types which is fucking GARBAGE). no review should get 10 stars though. Roarrrrrrr rrrrrooooarrrrrr x x x xxxxxx No band that draws comparisons (fairly or unfailry) to Poison The Well and From Autumn To Ashes gets a perfect score. I don't give two fucks about the band, but the score is for Trustkill. Somebody kill it. Kill it now. |
