With this 4-song EP, Circa Survive gives us a nice glimpse at what is in store when they release their first full-length Juturna on April 19th. Featuring members of defunct legends This Day Forward and Saosin, Circa Survive provide an intense, masterful distraction from the headbanging and the clichéd mosh. Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing I like more than a pulverizing breakdown.

The first few songs on this albums are okay. but after repeated listening to this.... its quite poopy. It looks like if your band is signed to Equal Vision, Duk is going to give you a good review?! Yeah, 7 Seconds too, but I was just naming newer bands. 7 Seconds? "Paint It Black "Paint It Black Worst comment thread ever after a good review. Great band with great things to come. Jesus freak the word gay originally meant happy, it turned into meaning homosexual. this doesn't mean all gay people are happy. it has now turned into meaning something lame or bad, this does not mean that the person even thought about homosexuals while using it. Stop being so fucking politically correct, it's stupid. You're way too black and white with everything. When Political Correctness tells you what you can and cannot say it is obviously limiting free speach. And anyone lame enough to not say something for fear of offending someone is truely not a free-thinker. benny, i don't use those words, either... sorry... In my political sociology class we were talking about how the only people you can safely make fun of anymore are white trash. In my political sociology class we were talking about how the only people you can safely make fun of anymore are white trash. I can't see how this is a "break" from hardcore punk...since there hasn't been a Hcpunk release in years. I can't see how this is a "break" from hardcore punk...since there hasn't been a Hcpunk release in years. one time at the chance in poughkeepsie ny, the singer dude from saosin got wrapped up in his mic cord, and the guitarists cord. he spun around and fell over. truly hilarious. he got pissed after the song when the crowd was laughing and heckling his ass. i think his girls jeans kept him from being able to escape the mass of wires. I can't see how this is a "break" from hardcore punk...since there hasn't been a Hcpunk release in years. Is Anthony Green actually gay? or bi? or Morrissey? PC is a bad thing, it's thought control and it limits free speach. score is for bizzlebrizzle who doesn't realize that there is no excuse for using gay and faggot as derogatory terms (even by homosexuals), for assuming that i like anti-flag, and for implying that political correctness is a bad thing... Is Anthony Green actually gay? or bi? or Morrissey? Hey ELFoolio...When I submitted the review it was in one big paragraph. The guys who run the site added the breaks. Great bunch of guys and fine editors too. Anyway...not sure I was "sucking cock" in the review, that was a funny comment by you. I was actually trying for the "bang in the ass" type of review but I fell short. Homophobes are so cool. Sorry you didn't like the review...maybe next time. Score is for Elvis.... Any kind of Elvis. Impersonators, people who put the very word in their usernames.... And not only that, but I wasn't using gay to mean that Saosin was bad, I meant that those guys truely appear to be fucking flamers to me, just like all their fucking fans. Score is for PC cock suckers like elvisdechico who assume that people that use words like gay and fag are homophobic. I guess that means most of the gay guys that live on my dorm floor are homophobic as well since they regularly use those words. I just gotta say something bout this band becuz I'm a big Saosin and This Day Foward fan and i gotta say the combination kiks ass...great album i cant wait till april 19 score is for bizzlebrizzle, for a failed attempt at covering up his homophobia/lack of vocabulary... That first paragraph break is my fault. I couldn't really decide where the first sentence of that second 'graph belonged. It was originally tacked onto the end of the first but I moved it out of unsureness. About the review in particular: the break between the first and second paragraphs is just bad. Straight up bad. Also, you suck a little too much cock during the review, doesn't help the credibility. Lastly, saying that the vocalist is unlike anything ever and then comparing him to two other vocalists is pretty hilarious. I saw these guys in Tempe, AZ last Sunday and I picked up the EP. They were pretty damn good, but there was something wrong with the mic and Green was drowned out by the instruments most of the time. Before Today was there also. Their drummer beats the shit out of his skins, man he is good. And Gatsby's American Dream, who were better than I expected them to be musically. They were the smoothest and cleanest musically. But the real stars of the show were Bear vs. Shark. Now those guys kicked ass! They fuckin' ripped! No other band got those stiff necked high schoolers to move at all. That dude was up on the walls, out in the crowd, flopping around. Great show by an energetic band. Scary Kids Scaring Kids closed out the show and they were the weakest in my opinion, although still descent, just not nearly as interesting as the others. My score is for this EP, which is damn good and BvS. If they come to your town or anywhere near you better get out there and check 'em. Score is for the New Mexican Disaster Squad song called, "If You Don't Have Something Mean To Say Don't Say It At All" Hey brizzle, using gay to infer that something is bad creates linguistic link between homosexuality and something being inferior, unwanted, or "bad". Just a heads up, maybe stop using it, and say that something sucks in the future. Taken is probably better than these guys but I'll try it out. tdf ARE legends.....so is TAKEN, or better yet, were.....everyone fails to mention that after taken broke up, nick beard joined up with these guys. you know i'm bad, i'm bad, you know it Anthony Green is a great singer, I've loved every band he's been in... Zolof, Saosin, Circa Survive, and TSOAF. score is for fuzzy... and also for circa survive, who are super cool dudes The score is for This Day Forward. I am wearing a TDF hoodie right now. Hey brizzle, using gay to infer that something is bad creates linguistic link between homosexuality and something being inferior, unwanted, or "bad". Just a heads up, maybe stop using it, and say that something sucks in the future. sounds gay as hell, especially if it has someone from Saosin, the gayest band in the world(Even gayer than Limp Wrist!) Although maybe you're not saying they are defunct, just This Day Forward. Maybe that's just the way I'm reading it. Saosin is not defunct...Although I doubt they will be able to recapture what they had without Anthony Greene. excellent review I was really impressed by this EP. The hook for the chorus of "act appalled" is so goddamn catchy, it's ridiculous. I had my doubts about these guys before (having only heard the demo version of "handshakes at sunrise", don't get me wrong the song is alright, but not amazing), but this EP really has me looing forward to their full length. "Post-emo, post-hardcore, Post-cereal." This is pretty good as expected, but the constant Mars Volta comparisons make a little more sense now. As much as I loathe most of this whiny-vocaled sing/scream stuff, I must say that I really like Green's voice in every project he's worked with. The Sound of Animals Fighting album would have been awesome if it weren't for the interludes. In Response was great, and the Translating ...EP was also great. So, this should be great in theory Words can't even describe how good this band is. Did anyone see these guys with Tsunami Bomb and Somerset? I heard they were amazing at those shows. this almost reads like a press sheet A) I would hardly call This Day Forward and Saosin "legends", even if I was a fan of Saosin. |
