When the term “punk rock cover band” is mentioned, two artists come to mind immediately: The all-star cast that makes up Me First & The Gimmie Gimmies, closely followed by our south of the border friends in Manic Hispanic. Well, a new act is trying to push their way onto the scene: four Canadians performing under the moniker Britney’s Krack.

Ahem.

The quartet started out of the urge to play some fun party music, but in spite of modern pop music. What they produced is a five-song cover record titled Back In Krack that’s void of anything memorable or tolerable for more than one listen. Unlike the aforementioned bands, Britney’s Krack fails to do anything with their renditions of pop hits like Ricky Martin’s “Livin’ La Vida Loca” or chart toppers from Britney Spears and Christina Aguileria. Instead, they just play straight through the songs in typical four-chord punk rock style.

This release is self-produced and shines through the faded ink on a CD-R that’s packaged in a DVD case with an incorrect track listing.

BK is gung-hoe about their little project, and I’m willing to bet they’re the only ones too.

Everything that comes in the mail gets a review. You can't just pick and choose what does and doesn't get reviewed.

why dont they call it shitnews.org

Well, gee, that's because nobody is as witty as yourself.

    CherryColaRain (June 9, 2005)

And by the way...in the cover does that really say "Warning PARENTAL ADVISORY This band sucks." thats fucking hilarious

    CherryColaRain (June 9, 2005)

Personally..this band blows ALOT. But I like that the site reviews...shit. Usually it's this short, insulting reviews that make my day. And also some awsome review by some Multi-asskicking band. If they review shit it's for your own good...now you know what NOT to buy.

It's being reviewed here because of a little thing called diversity. Why does everyone rely on Punknews for reviews for certain albums? Just google it, Christ.

    Manic Hispanic fucking sucks. Jesus.

Songs about Spaniards make me feel queasy.

wow, this couldn't be the best review ya'll could have picked from. this shit sounds like something you found at a local show stuffed in the garbage and thought, "why not, the good old 'org will post anything"

for more on that last statement, see any review by jesse.

    theundergroundscene (June 7, 2005)

why is this even getting reviewed

    Anonymous (June 7, 2005)

they seem to be real innovative in what they are doing

    TheOneTrueBill (June 7, 2005)

Has anyone gotten the new Manic Hispanic yet? I can't find it.

    andrew13 (June 7, 2005)

manic hispanic is great... gimme gimmes are good at first, but repeated listenings tend to make them not hold up... so long live manic hispanic...

    BrandonSideleau (June 7, 2005)

I'd say Manic Hispanic is better than the Gimme Gimmes.......but this thing sounds turgid, give me real, original music please.
