All you punker-than-thou scene kids can say what you want, but the Transplants have made some of the most enjoyable music in recent years. As most of you already know, the punk-rap trio features Rancid's Tim Armstrong, MC Rob Aston, and Travis Barker, possibly the most talented drummer around, from the now-defunct (on hiatus?) blink-182. Although their style has elements of Rancid, and a bit of clichéd (but still fun) rap (more so on this album), it still can be pretty original at times. In fact, I can't think of one other band that sounds like them. But does this mean they're good? No. Are they? In my humble opinion, yes.

Yo douche, are you serious? You consider the Casualties and the Exploited hardcore? Hardcore is Madball, Punishment, Shattered Realm, Hoods, etc... The Casualties and The Exploited are faggot punk rock bands that make people think it's cool to look like a schoolyard bitch. Of course, none of those bands listed have anything on Skrewdriver, Brutal Attack, and No Remorse.. transplants were never hardcore. good, but not hardcore. the casualties are hardcore, same with the exploited. The transplants are the shittiest band that will ever walk the earth, thank fucking jesus they broke up, and saved the world from the musical diarrhea that would be a third album. "Bratty" this album fucking sucks, buy the self titled instead. You're all fucking morons. The Transplants are the greatest band since Rancid! Tim Armstrong is the best fucking musician of all time, and the next time I hear someone praise the Clash I'll puke. I un-mute those fucking shampoo commercials everytime, just so I can hear quality fucking music for a change. And Skinhead is THE SHIT!! No wonder punk is dying- all you jackasses would rather hear fucking Hawthorne Heights or fucking Thrice...shit bands, I swear... You're all just pissed because Rob took the easy road, and scored high. But he deserves it, and I think his clown graf is dope... And Brody is a fucking whore for leaving Tim for that fucking Queens wuss! You all fucking sicken me...How many times do the good bands have to get shit while Franz-fucking-Ferdinand gets praise, before someone finally recognizes their talent? Tim and Skin have two of the best fucking voices of all time (with the exceptions of Billie Joe Armstrong and Jorge of The Casualties), and Travis is the fucking shit as a drummer. Josh Freese is just a fucking free-loading opportunist, and although he's talented, he couldn't hold a fucking drumstick to Barker. Trav and Branden Steineckert take the cake...You all should get your ears checked, and then lock yourselves in your closets and listen to Fall Out Boy while you weep your beady little eyes out. Fuck pop/indie/alternative/shit/wuss music- SUPPORT THE TRANSPLANTS!! a vocalist who can't sing to save his life, an over-rated drummer, and a wigger who raps. a wigger! hahahaha!!! who the fuck gives a shit about your oppinions this is not rancid or blink 182 you decide if you want to listen to it or not i just read this whole thing and i realized most of you are complete and total ass hats and that is fine because you are simply following the norm. but when i saw that list i realized i have lost even more respect for the so called punk rockers. to all of you that have an open mind and can hear the transplants not as rancid or blink 182 good for you... alright what can you say about these guys that hasnt already been said about sum 41? Oh. Yes. We should be afraid of a man with no job and clown tattoos. Only a forgiener could love Givehead Rob's rapping style, for you have no grasp of the American slang. Nobby is pencil neck. The only problem with the Transplants, is that they want to sellout, yet no one is buying. This album is pretty decent, but nowhere near as good as their self-titled release. Some of the better songs on this are American Guns, Doomsday, Gangsters and Thugs, and Not Today. Hey i'm from the Netherlands, i don't know where "Fresno" is and i don't give a damn 'bout it... I like the Transplants (although not all of their songs) and i don't give a shit whether some guy comes from some shittie town as long as he makes nice music... All you punk-ass bitches are all just whining pussies. If all you can do is shit on music, then best you can do is just shut the fuck up and let other people just enjoy that music! okay this album rocks ROB IS THE FUCKIN SHIT!! tim knows what hes doin give him some credit the man has been in music since before most punk kid today knew what punk was and whoever disses on my boy Skinhead Rob better be able to back that shit up cause rob could kill most of the little wannabe shithead "punks" so stop hatin cause the transplant kick ass and Rob is hott Let's face the facts, No one likes Handjob Rob. Don't forget Givehead Rob got dropped from Warner. No one sees that clowns "talent". You have to earn the respect of your audience to make them fans. So far, Mr. MC hasn't bought much to the table. Screw him. There's many kids with talent and drive that would love chance he's been given. He blew it. Skinhead Blob is from FRESNO. Have you seen Fresno? It's nothing. To be a gangbanger from Fresno is like being the tough guy at a private arts high school. Top thug alright. I think this record is incredible. Rob has an awesome voice. It has a raw feeling to it. I think its stupid when all you kids complain about this record because musically it is incredible and you all couldn't do anybetter. All you guys who are hating Rob are idiots because he actually used to be a gangbanger guy and so his rhymes are relavant. He is better than 50 cent because 50 just makes the same songs a thousand times over. i.e. Candy Shop and Magic stick sounding identical. Although before I have hated rap I am getting into it more now but not the generic 50 cent like people. I am talking real rap like Run DMC. Another thing, why do you people care what Tim does live. He has always been like that. He is straight up punk and doesn't really care. Thats just him. Travis did phenomenal on this record as expected. He is extremely talented and it always shows. Overall I think this record was extremely good. The DJ guy looked a too small to be DJ Muggs. Go to Jimmy Kimmel's website to see the show. Last night on Jimmy Kimmel, The Transplants played live. And boy, did it suck. They had a DJ, but I couldn't hear him. I couldn't hear a sampler either. It was pretty lame. Tim spent a good deal of time "rapping", but barely touched his guitar. Lars appeared to be playing all the guitar bits. So wait, if Tim is the only guitairst in this band does that mean that he'll actually PLAY his guitar at shows now?? Givehead Rod can't freestyle or fight. The only thing that bitch can do is polish Tim's ass up nice and shiny and tell pretend stories about being a gangsta drug dealer in Fresno (a shitty farming/suburb college town) "They've been doing "White Riot" for a while now. They even played it on the Jimmy Kimmel show when they were promoting their debut CD. And Tim and Strummer were friends, so I don't see what the big deal is about them covering it." " 'but he's at least better than an "artist" like 50 cent.' They've been doing "White Riot" for a while now. They even played it on the Jimmy Kimmel show when they were promoting their debut CD. And Tim and Strummer were friends, so I don't see what the big deal is about them covering it. How cute! Skinhead Rob uses the word "nigga" when addressing others. They've been doing "White Riot" for a while now. They even played it on the Jimmy Kimmel show when they were promoting their debut CD. And Tim and Strummer were friends, so I don't see what the big deal is about them covering it. ''While those other two guitarists are better than Ginn, it's mostly the case around here that no one understand's Ginn's solos. Most people my age think it's noise rock, when it is in fact, merely jazz. I've listened to this off & on for a day or two, and I don't see a reason for the level of hate some of you have for "Haunted Cities." "I heard that they originally wanted Slug from Atmosphere to be the MC in this crapfest. Good for him for telling tim and trav where to go." "Also if you haven't noticed rancid are on WB now. Indestructible has a WB barcode (9362)." "Someone obviously wasn't a Rancid fan back in 94-95. Oh and that dude's rapping annoys the hell out of me." "It's not like Rancid were ever anti-corporation anyway" "Also if you haven't noticed rancid are on WB now. Indestructible has a WB barcode (9362)." I'm still debating wheather or not I should buy this cd or just wait for the next generation of shampoo commercials. It has to be Skinhead Rob, he can't spell. I bet Skinhead Rob can barely read too. Shit. The guy below is me, and I really need to start reading previous posts before making one. =( Pretty good cd. It's starting to grow on me. Want to hear something sickening? Haunted Cities will be in the cut out bin by next month When did all the punk rockers become authorites on what is good rap/hip hop/r&b. Oh yah, I forgot, becuase you like punk, you know about ALL kinds ofmusic. your the authority bitches lead the way. you fucking jack offs. Some Info for all: It has to be Skinhead Rob, he can't spell. I bet Skinhead Rob can barely read too. Is this Skinhead rob? Did I hurt your feelings? Poor baby. to the guy below here are your topics Geez will ReRun Rob quit? This was just supposed to be a side project, but b/c of the huge response, it's now bigger than that. I picked this up yesterday. Track 4 is my favorite. It's weird though, some songs are really good, and some songs are really sh#tty. Wow this stuff is good, glad to see it was reviewed here Was this review written by the same jerkoff who wrote the Goldfinger review? The kid seems like he doesn't really know that much about punk. gangtas and thugs has to be the worst fucking song ever. shitty ass beat, tim can't fucking rap, he sounds half-retarded. and that rob guy cant stop talking about smoking the dro and getting the bitches..ya dude..just what we need a punk rock rapper. fuck this shit, travis can drum the hell out of this shit, but no matter what THESE GUYS CANT RAP. like i said, whether you like it or not is up to you, but what give you the fucking right to come and bad mouth it. "Yeah. I bet these guys would get over huge opening for Dead Prez. Idiotic poser punk-hop is the new thing. Tell everyone." oh so being a side project just completely dismisses the fact that it sounds like shit? duane peters has side projects yet i hear no white boy rap. what gives? It's not Rancid, it's not Operation Ivy, what it IS, is a freaking SIDE PROJECT! That means, to the morons out there, doing something DIFFERENT from what they usualy do. Get it? Travis Barker be havng many talents may niggas. He has avoided black people for his whole life and now wants to be ghetto. That be sum talent This album is amazing, they managed to fit a Taco Bell stall worth of poo on to a shiny compact disc. Mad props Tim, for you have figured out how to spread your fecal matter across our fine nation. But it was easy for Tim to think about poo, he got work with the 2 biggest forms of animated crap, What the fuck? Go get some taste in music and then come back, because Rancid fucking suck. haven't heard the whole CD, but Barker needs to stick to rock instead of rock with a mix of cheap rap transplants >>>> rancid "Oh yeah, no one noticed Greg Ginn's style at all. Nope. They totally missed that Johnny Thunders guy and that Johnny Ramone fellow also. Please help spread the word about these other two geniuses also, future generations of punk fans will thank you and record love songs about your unique and discerning ears!" "There is no wonder as to why this transplants cd came out in the summer. People don't want to think when it's hot outside, they just want to have a good time. That's what these guys provide." 1. the ramones- no they're the biggest secret in the world!!! Stop kidding yourselves. You have no idea who stiff little fingers were. I want to hold a tele-a-thon to raise funds and awareness for "Make-A-Disc Foundation'. Can you help? 1. the ramones- no oi oi rancid punx oi oi HA! FUCKIN' HA! Skinhasbeen Rob has been dropped by Warner. That's right, to be a real sellout someone has to buy your shit, now Givehead Rob is just plain a sorry chump. Yeah no Westside, Ice Cube still had about 3 solo records pre Westside at this point. How do white kids like me get exposed to political hip hop in the stix anyways? I also listened to alot of Black Moon, Big Daddy Kane, 3rd Bass, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, The Chronic (got it on cassette the day it came out) Ice Cube Amerikkka's, Bdp, epmd, yeah I've always been a music geek, even when I was 6 I had a mad cassette collection "I heard that they originally wanted Slug from Atmosphere to be the MC in this crapfest. Good for him for telling tim and trav where to go." rancid has one album "Then again, no one realizes Greg Ginn was a guitar genius. They just think he makes funny noises." What's the status of your solo record? Can you tell us anything about it and when it's coming out? honestly how does a faggoty whigga wannabe gangster straight from the merch stand end up being the front man of a band alongside someone as great as Tim Armstrong. first 7 mostly yes. as for the rest don't compare this trife to PE, "fear of a black planet" opened this then 11 year old's eyes to A BOATLOAD of great music. don't compare this trife to PE, "fear of a black planet" opened this then 11 year old's eyes to A BOATLOAD of great music. ahha he is a machine "And Out Come the Wolves..." is quite possibly the best album ever recorded. A direct comparison of Public Enemy to the Transplants is misguided. The Transplants are a side project. Public Enemy is/was a full time group, therefore your arguments are pointless. That said, I'll bite. "1. the ramones- no "1. the ramones- no Josh Freese? I love this album, maybe i should say i hate it. i want to be punx Gangsta posturing from grown white men that live in luxury. No Thank you I'd put a firecracker in my ass before I buy this album Does Tim get a tax break for adopting that retard Givenhead Rod? Wanksters and Duds 5. black flag - yno 1. the ramones- no Wanksters and Duds another shitty band 1. the ramones- no anyone who thinks that anything rancid ever did is better than the descendents Does Tim get a tax break for adopting that retard Givenhead Rod? Yeah. I bet these guys would get over huge opening for Dead Prez. Idiotic poser punk-hop is the new thing. Tell everyone. 1. the ramones- yes Take a look around baby, yeah my whole crews ugly This album blows, I listened to the MTV Leak, Tim wants to sell out soooo bad it hurts. Tim Armstrong has jumped the shark. It happened when Brody dumped him, he hasn't been the same since. It's all pimps, hookers, bling, drug dealers and thug bullshit. There are like 10 other songs that are better than Maxwell Murder on AOCTW. dude below Rancid is, and always will be, a punk rock legend. "And Out Come the Wolves..." is quite possibly the best album ever recorded. Anyone who knows anything about writing music can recognize that Tim is one of the most talented guys around. I liked rancid when I was in 6th grade like everyone did but has anyone gone back to that lately? All you need to hear is Tim Armstrong's voice on any cd, its TERRIBLE. he sounds awful and the guy who does the yell rapping crap sounds just as awful. My friend makes better rap cds fucking around in his basement with Reason. Oh and i saw them open for Foo Fighters a while back, seriously, its not even describable in words how awful these guys sound live. Rancid is, and always will be, a punk rock legend. "And Out Come the Wolves..." is quite possibly the best album ever recorded. Anyone who knows anything about writing music can recognize that Tim is one of the most talented guys around. hah The Only band i agree with below is The Clash. Talib Kweli played my school but I forgot to go. Oh well. 10 bands that made (at least one) album(s) that are better than lets go or anything else rancid ever did travis barker is best drummer? Oh sugar-pie, I'm not a homophobe! I just went to the parade yesterday! The world is a very unfair place. Givehead Rob should be collecting food stamps, not placed as a charity case on Tim's albums. Tim will get sick of him one day and can his ass. No one here has mentioned the best part about this Haunted Cities, they have samples on the songs that tell you when to dance. Oh sugar-pie, I'm not a homophobe! I just went to the parade yesterday! The kid who posted beneath me is a flaming homophobe Oh boy! It's time for the ever so homo-erotic posturing of Skinhead Rob, one time at the Fresno A&W Root Beer Float Shoppe, I saw him behind the condiment stand offering to mayonaise Tim's hot dog! tim's voice is beautiful.. similar to clash and dire straits and even better.. tattoos aren't music but rancid's music is ok "i have lots of friends who love them, people who's opinions i respect, but i think they're pretty fucking horrible I really don't like The Transplants so I guess I'm not "PunX" or "punXX0rz" or whatever the word is this week. I'll stick with 13 & God thank you. just becuase you have a bad voice and some skull tattoos doesn't mean you're band is any good yes, i honestly believe that rancid is a fucking horrible band I hope Tim is drinking and doing drugs again, or is he just posing in the video? I see why Brody left him, I'd leave too if my other half decided to act like thug-gangsta moron and have Givehead Rob hanging at your home. Score is for Venn Diagrams, and Talib Kweli, because it just happens to be who I'm listening to at the moment, and he slays everyone in this band. I heard that they originally wanted Slug from Atmosphere to be the MC in this crapfest. Good for him for telling tim and trav where to go. rancid is (or was?) a great band and the transplants are great. but now i cant wait for the new lars & the bastards record. that's some fine work sfbarker. I'd recommend using ven diagram to make things simpler. is doomsday a mephiskapheles cover? Since I just read an article on a celebration of the 16th anniversary of Public Enemy releasing "It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back," I will use it as the benchmark for a perfect 10 album and then base what the Transplants bring with Haunted Cities. Let's begin: I'm disappointed. Only one shampoo commercial comment so far. Oh boy, am I going to get kicked off the org if I post that I think Pink's "Try This" cd is pretty rad? The hidden track is ace "you ain't nothing but a hooker, selling your fucking soul", although there's a couple of double ungood slow tunes on there also. "this cd, like anything tim armstrong and travis barker touches is pretty fucking horrible (see. rancid, pink, blink 182, boxcar racer etc.)" for the record i'm fairly certain he wasn't comparing them, but rather including the other projects in which either one of the two has taken part. "this cd, like anything tim armstrong and travis barker touches is pretty fucking horrible (see. rancid, pink, blink 182, boxcar racer etc.)" this cd, like anything tim armstrong and travis barker touches is pretty fucking horrible (see. rancid, pink, blink 182, boxcar racer etc.) Most talented drummer? There are plenty of more talented drummers out there in rock music. Hell, even Max Weinburg. Or Dave Grohl. And within punk music, Josh Freese is easily one of the most talented. "the real mcs is underground" Very nice review. side note: i dont give a shit who reviews it.. if i dont like it .. then i dont like it. "But Crazy Town covered Refused's New Noise they are so PUNX!" side note: Rolling Stone gave this 3.5 / 5 stars and most other music mags gave it near perfect ratings - I really enjoy it meh.. id rather listen to old Jedi Mind Tricks Bad band, bad review. Sorry. for the record, paul wall is the worst rapper ever. score is for even trying to use that as a selling point for anything. you should be ashamed of yourself, ANN. ashamed enough to rip out your uterus and sling it at a random passerby. that ashamed. Papoose > Your favorite rapper. not trying to bash the content of your review, but if you're going to review multiple songs individually perhaps you'd consider splitting it up a bit more. the second paragraph lost me a few times. Regardless of your dislike to them; people will still buy the cd. It only cost 30,000.00 to make and they'll make a million off it. Good turn around for them." This album is far better than the previous album. Love the beats This is frat music for jocks, strippers and white people . It'll sell great, and that's really all that matters anymore isn't it? "MC Rob Aston"? Rigghhhhhht... yo yo yo, bizeye this g or yo mom is phat. Very good album -- I would rate it higher but some of Rob's lyrics are just too cheesy Score is for putting "MC" in front of Rob's name. I don't care if that's what he's calling himself nowadays, but he's not an MC and he probably never will be. But Crazy Town covered Refused's New Noise they are so PUNX! the first wu tang album was amaizing, as was the 1st onyx. ahh the tired call of the transplants fan "You're totally not open minded enough to appreciate this". whatever, sure. im also too close minded to appreciate limp bizkit, linkin park and crazy town. The only rapping Tim Armstrong should ever do is the end of sound system, which is hilarious because apparently he has marbles actually growing in his face. I enjoyed their previous effort, but this is just bad. I think the key to this group is Tim/guest vocalist doiing the hooks. The top songs on this album like doomsday and Gangstas and Thugs have Tim. The good songs on the last album have that as well. I think they did a better job with Rob on this album, but because of the Killafornia song, I gotta take the first album as being better. This one is growing on me though. "Regardless of your dislike to them; people will still buy the cd. It only cost 30,000.00 to make and they'll make a million off it. Good turn around for them." I don't really get why people think Travis Barker is the greatest drummer in the world. Sure he's pretty good, but come on, the best drummer around? No fucking way. Can anyone imagine if Eric O was in Transplants full-time, to replace Rob. I believe this cd to be just a fun release of stresses and an" in your face" to all those that dislike them, because they don't give a fu*k! Bottom line... you are where you are and they are on the top... so to speak. Regardless of your dislike to them; people will still buy the cd. It only cost 30,000.00 to make and they'll make a million off it. Good turn around for them. As for review.....it speaks greatly about the cd's diversity of music KEEP IT COMING!!! Inspectah Deck >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Any member of this band. everyone be giving skinhead rob too much shit. tha man's straight outta the merch booth and mothafucker be kinda crazy after slanging couple hundred fruit of the looms. The first album admittedly had some decent songs on it - this is just unbearable. "but he's at least better than an "artist" like 50 cent". The album is pretty good. Although I don't know why Rob Aston is whispering all the time. And the "I'm a gangsta. I'm a thug." schtick gets old real quick. And another fucking thing. There is no way in hell these fuckers will ever mean more or put out better music than Rancid. Skinhead Rob sure did a lot of street hustling and drug selling in his time. Not to mention blasting people with his 9mm. At least that's what he wants people to believe. What I don't understand is this: When did he find time to do all that the past couple of years? I thought he was selling AFI and Rancid shirts when he was working their fucking merch table and being a roadie for them. Go, go, go, go Early punks had Sid and Nancy. Kurt and Courtney belonged to Generation X. And now, today's youth will soon have their own punk — poppy, but still punk — rock couple to warmly embrace: Avril and Deryck. This is utter crap. I'd rather listen to some metalcore. "They couldn't even think of anything to ryhme about besides their street cred and how "some of their friends sell girls". Yeah, pimps are really cool, Tim Armstrong. Paying girls to use themselves on the street is really punk rock and I'm sure you're 'hip to the street' as they say. |
