Anyone unfamiliar with No Use For A Name’s history has probably never heard of their debut album, Incognito, which was released by the long-irrelevant label New Red Archives in 1990, and discreetly reissued by Fat in 2001. My copy happens to be a reissue, but the only noticeable improvement is that the horrendous nun-praying-alongside-some-dancing-cats logo of NRA has been pulled from the liner notes and the CD sticker. The sound quality remains the same, which is a good thing. Incognito is raw, flawed, somewhat amateurish in its execution, and really couldn’t succeed otherwise; any illusions of grandeur would sink this record faster than Butterbean in a pool. Although it doesn’t rank among NUFAN’s best albums, it does an admirable job at providing the listener with a ton of fun.

Good review, I completely agree. rehashing shit because im bored... "which was released by the long-irrelevant label New Red Archives in 1990" what a bunch of whiny little bitches. I love the pixies! No use was good....i love to read my own comments and tell everyone else how stupid they are!!! Wow...i need to get a life! "which was released by the long-irrelevant label New Red Archives in 1990" "which was released by the long-irrelevant label New Red Archives in 1990" "which was released by the long-irrelevant label New Red Archives in 1990" i think this whole argument can be boiled down to one word: growling. hey look at that, Dante is right, who woulda thunk it. everyone needs to calm down, because you're all retarded. or wicked retarded. or wicked retahded. RRRRRRRRRiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhttttttttttttttttt. So I'm not even going to read the old review where Anchors apparently mocks poor working class people. But here's what I am going to do (because why not piss everyone off, because this is a message board and meant to be taken with the utmost seriousness) "i clean out womens' vaginas" I'm done trying to explain myself to you kids, because honestly, you've got some thick fucking heads. anchors reviews aren't that great, and the classism thing is kind of lame too Also, I find it funny that Anchors claims to be some non-arrogant, unpretentious citizen, yet continues to dog people for their jobs. I'm with "rkl" on this one... In fact, the fact that Anchors is such an annoying, uninformed, biased asshole is more the reason his opinions mean nothing than the fact that he jocks Alexisonfire. You even come off as an arrogant asshole in your reviews. Keep trying, kid, I've got all day. -Anchors I don't need a dictionary, thesaurus, or anything else to write my reviews. anchors: unlike yourself, i only make judgements based upon posts made on this site. in your posts, you have been unsympathetic towards the common class, which is a stance the gop has taken since the dawn of the new deal. jesus you angry people need to slipt it on in more than i do hahaha. a quality response from jones. i think everyone else needs to just shut up. i clean out womens' vaginas anchors: unlike yourself, i only make judgements based upon posts made on this site. in your posts, you have been unsympathetic towards the common class, which is a stance the gop has taken since the dawn of the new deal. i guess that was unclear - i was talking about use of the term "wicked". and anchors, the reason those of us in the nyc area think it's retarded is exactly because it's a new england thing, and only red sox fans say it. Jones, I say retarded normally, the way you made it sound is a New England thing, I'm from Upstate NY. "whats your name? FUCK YOU! thats my name" i was giving an example, not trying to impress. They're not just any band. They're the guys who got you into punk music, and then more or less landed you a job at an indie store, a role as this site's editor, and a place at Alternative Press. Wicked is definitely a Northeast thing. I'm from NY, and say it constantly. But one of my suitemates if from Queens and he thinks it's retarded, so who knows. please don't say 'wicked' it makes you sound like a masshole. So, because I don't like the band's newer albums, I have to sell all their old ones? You're wicked retarded. -Scott What's more is that your claim is dumb in the first place, as I'm not an arrogant person in the least. You're like a less intelligent version of Chinatown, if possible. Wicked is definitely a Northeast thing. I'm from NY, and say it constantly. But one of my suitemates if from Queens and he thinks it's retarded, so who knows. I love NUFAN, including Don't Miss the Train, but this cd just sucks. Maybe one or two decent songs. It's amazing how much this band has evolved since this. "i skipped 4 days a week in hs and still came out with almost enough credits to graduate twice. oh, and i have a fairly decent job, too. what do you do, anchors, that makes you so great?" Wicked is definitely a Northeast thing. I'm from NY, and say it constantly. But one of my suitemates if from Queens and he thinks it's retarded, so who knows. scott, are you from the northeast Seeing as you hate No Use, you should sell those two 7-inches on E-Bay. Just last month a copy of You Bug Me was auctioned for over two hundred dollars. Not only will you make plenty of money out of those two recordings, you'll also be handing them to someone who actually appreciates the band. i dont think id call iron maiden "light metal," in fact, im somewhat offended. I have it scored 70, 63 thus far but with a lifetime to go it can be anyones match. SWEET!!! the day anchors has no reviews, chinatown has a review, so we get anchors vs chinatown round 8 I was making fun of kids who purposely drop out of high school, and are thus relegated to those careers. There's a difference. You even come off as an arrogant asshole in your reviews. I have both of NUFAN's early 7-inches; the "You Bug Me!" one with a green cover, and the "Let 'Em Out!" one on blue marble vinyl. I was lucky enough to be working at an indie record store when I was 16 when some dude came in and sold his entire record collection. I have so much awesome stuff I don't know what to do with it all (not to mention a virtually complete collection of Boris The Sprinkler 7-inches). -Scott ""Truth Hits Everybody" is not a NUFAN song, it is a police song. Please don't make a comment about tony's lyrics in the song when they are not his they are sting's." "Truth Hits Everybody" is not a NUFAN song, it is a police song. Please don't make a comment about tony's lyrics in the song when they are not his they are sting's. I'm going to see Hellnation at Roboto Project near the end of the month. I am so stoked. NUFAN had an ep which was #3 on slap-a-ham. (Try finding that on ebay!) The original band was to be black-flag oriented fast hardcore, but obviously there was some conflicts about that. Snapcase? also, i own the NRA release of this album...hopefully i still have the jewel case and liner notes around somewhere... I can't even get past the first paragraph. There are soo many fucking problems. First off Fat made a big ass deal about the re-issue. I remember recieving several e-mails about it as well as seeing it all up on their website. Secondly fat floats as would Butterbean. Thirdly, don't try and use big words, they don't work for you. i am a huge NUFAN fan, but this album is terrible. Sorry if I came off as anti-Spazz? I love them with my whole heart. I need to find one of their records soon, or I just won't know what to do with myself. You even come off as an arrogant asshole in your reviews. Haha, do you expect me to take your criticism seriously? I apologize if my review didn't have enough Starcraft references. Stupid fucking gamer. Crappy band, crappy, messy review. this review is too long, so i didn't read it "yeah, but, is there any growling on this record for christsakes?" "Anyone unfamiliar with No Use For A Name’s history" This is one of the worst albums I've ever heard. Damn this band used to suck. Well, they still suck, but at least they've managed to put out a few decent songs in their current lineup. Chris Dodge was in this band was also in Spazz. I wouldn't call Spazz a chaotic mess. They are like a perfectly-honed buzz bomb of thrash madness. yeah, but, is there any growling on this record for christsakes? What in the hell is there talk about Spazz in this for? I read the whole thing, and I'm still completely confused. He sang for this band? |
