Goldfinger emerged into the music in 1996 with their self-titled debut album. Right around the time the album came out, the band released a popular single called "Here In Your Bedroom". As a freshman in High School, I remember liking the song, but didn't become a huge fan of the band until the release of Stomping Ground.

The album starts of somewhat fast-paced with a mediocre song called "Mind's Eye". "Here in Your Bedroom" is track 3, and then the really good songs start with track 5, called "King for a Day". This is a great song that for over 2 minutes is very mellow and then picks up the pace towards the end. Another great song is called "The City With Two Faces", which is a very hard and fast-paced song in which the band trashes the city of Los Angeles.

Many of the songs on this album go back and forth in terms of the mood of the album. It goes from a slow, eerie song like "Answers" to a thunderous, almost metal-like speed in songs like "Nothing To Prove".

The bottom line is that this is a great album, better than Hang-Ups, but not quite as good as Stomping Ground (in my opinion). If you are just starting to get into Goldfinger, get this album, its the first of hopefully many great albums by this kick-ass band!

I agree with the last post this album is purely amazing not one bad song also the catchiest album I've ever heard every song has been in my head numerous times some songs arent as good as the rest but they are still good, good enough to the point that they arent bad at all. Definitely one of my favorite CDs

Best CD i have ever purchased. This was the first punk/ska cd ever and i thank god that it was. THIS is the best cd made by the best band on the planet as of right now. It has a song for everything. When you want to mellow out, you get songs like King for the Day, and Anything. When youre pissed you get songs like Fuck You and Your Cat and Answers and The City with Two Faces. I Love this fucking cd. I've had it for about six years now and i still listen to it at least once a week.

this is a good album... although I like Hang Ups the best by goldfinger. I definately don't agree with the author of this review about Stomping Ground... that album turned me off of goldfinger so much. And I dont see whats so great about that baloon song that everyone loves... it doesn't do it for me.

This is a good album by a good band... its good not great.

Goldfinger kick ass, no doubt about that. I like all of their albums equally because each record is very different and unique. This is well worth your money, as is any Goldfinger album. One thing though, I don't think there are too many "mediocre" songs on here and of those that are, I don't think "Mind's Eye" is one of them. Oh well. And btw, could we try writing longer reviews, please? If the album is so great (as this one is), tell us why!

Goldfinger releases in order of worst to best:

Stomping Ground - Good, but just cant listen to it more than once or twice a month.

Darrin's Coconut Ass - Again, cool, but only 2 songs worth listening to much.

S/T - Great songs watered down by mediocre songs

Hang Ups - One of the best ska-punk CD's around in my opinion. Not one of the best ska, not one of the best punk, but definitely a top ska-punk album.

this is the only goldfinger release worth getting. this and their cover cd, just for "just like heaven" and "feel like making love". all their other stuff is mediocre at best.- fathead
