I'm usually not very fond of compilation albums. It's a solid enough idea: Throw a bunch of bands on there, give kids a chance to hear 12 bands on one album rather than make one band record 12 songs, but I find they're often hard to listen to. The mixing of certain bands does not flow well at all, and sequencing should be the first concern of whatever label or group is putting the comp together.

thanks so much for the great review! I've no question made mix/tapes CD's with flow problems. It can be really hit or miss, so I didn't hold it that much against this comp. don't be so critical; I'm sure you've made a mix tape or two in your day that didn't flow perfectly. it's too bad people are acting like posh indie rock royalty; just give it a listen and remember that it's a BENEFIT cd, to BENEFIT people with MS, like me. hmph. This comp is a great, great introduction to all varities of independent music while benefitting a very worthwhile cause. Not every track is amazing, but you're bound to go nuts for at least a handful of bands you likely haven't heard before. The most awesome of awesome things. Great track listing and for a great cause. I got my copy when it first came out. I think its important. My uncle has MS and its a very serious disease. Much respect to these guys! better review right here.... score is for An Albatross... Anchors, if I were in the audience and you were playing the outfield I would be like this; "anchors, anchors, anchors." Then you would throw fireworks at me and I'd laught. |
