Cool, My Chemical Romance broke up, got some more talented musicians and put out a new CD. Wait? This isn’t My Chemical Romance? Nope, it’s just a cheap Victory knock-off that’s bound to earn them some money. At least they are able to surpass the band they try to rip off, but then again, that bar wasn’t set too high.

Aiden’s Nightmare Anatomy has so much in common with My Chemical Romance it isn’t funny. Each band is made up of a group of young 20 something’s, each wear makeup, and each try to convey some aspect of the Hot Topic mall goth scene. Unlike the band they try to cash in on, though, Aiden is actually a better band. Musically, it is mainly a complete borefest, but on tracks like “Die Romantic,” they have a technical opening riff that makes the track enjoyable at the beginning. On tracks like “Goodbye We’re Falling Fast,” Wil’s vocals are actually somewhat catchy and, dare I say, enjoyable. “Knife Blood Nightmare” starts off well with some nice guitar work and mixes some solid screams while staying catchy at the chorus and is one of the best tracks on the album.

The problem is those are only three songs and there’s an entire disc left to listen to. Throughout the rest of Nightmare Anatomy, the songs are filled with cookie-cutter riffs, non-existent bass, and terrible vocals. As if Wil’s voice wasn’t hard enough to listen to through most of the CD, his lyrics are extremely clichéd and it’s hard not to laugh at the shout-along portion of “See You in Hell.”

Aiden’s Nightmare Anatomy does have its rare moments, but in the end, it just isn’t cutting it. It feels like they went out and really tried on 3-4 songs and then just decided to fill the rest of the album with generic riffs, clichéd lyrics, forced shouting, and terrible clean vocals. But on a label where bands like Hawthorne Heights do well, it’s no surprise to me that Aiden’s Victory debut will sell well.

The true nightmares begin when you buy the record.

you are all IDIOTS, so what if they wear make up or there songs are too shit for YOU, but to me they arent and its about time that you stop judging and start to think about other people's feelings.
maybe one day you will be able to actually hear past your waxed ears and realise aiden are a very talented AND beautiful band. but thanks to all the people who have actually said something nice about aiden.

You know it's funny,all these 14 year old kids say that Aiden are incredible and that their one of the greatest bands of all time ,etc. A couple years from now this band won't even be around,and all you kids will move on to something else.One more thing,I don't really like MCR,but I know enough that they are better than this trash.I mean, at least they evolved a bit.

1. I actually 'own' a copy of this album. It's an advance copy and I got it for free, but I do own the album. So your little theory about Wal Mart is fake.

2. That image is pathetic and this band hasn't been around that long.

3. So if WiL writes lyrics that he's 'gone through,' then this seems pretty far fetched:

Ok..im pretty sure crazytoledo just picked up this album at walmart one day..looked it over and scanned it and listened to the sample tracks...he just judges their apperance and compares them to fakes..but these guys have had that apperance way before anyone did..im just saying that craytoledo needs his head out of his ass and really needs to get background information before he opens his mouth..because this is great music and the lyrics are from actual experiances and they arent just made up to fill the album..i actually really like this album...and one more thing..dont frickin type bad comments unless you have something good or decent to say about the album because you really dont understand anything of the work behind it.

Aiden doesn't make good music. Sure, they may be cool to their fans, but a majority of the bands in the scene are. There not rock super stars and they know it. And even if Aiden were cool and all, why should I listen to them because there nice guys? If that's true, you should maybe be friends with them or have some kind of respect, but you shouldnt like music just because of who's in the band, you should like music cause it's good and you like it.

i personally think nightmare anatomy is one of the best albums i own. maybe you don't like the screaming. maybe you don't like the lyrics. both are expressions of what lead singer wiL francis has gone through during his lifetime. his lyrics may be simple and "cliche" but i think that's his way of letting the fans think of their own meaning to their songs. not only do i think Aiden makes wonderful music, they are really nice guys in person. Aiden cares about their fans, Aiden makes good music. enough said.

they cant be a rip off if theyve been around since before anyone knew who MCR was. and theyve been playing the same style, and have portrayed the "goth" look since they started.. so, they reviewer needs to do some background research before he automatically assumes they are just another rip off band. i will agree though that this cd isnt aiden at their best. i like 4 or 5 tracks but the rest is repetitive. their first album is 10 times better.

I loved the album and there a band that is dedicated to their fans! Not many bands are like them. Plus wiL has amazing stage presence and really knows how to keep the crowd entertain. but I dont get how people got MCR outta Aiden's sound. I hear more of AFI.

but overall I think there an amazing band that will go very far in the future!

After finally sitting down and completly listening to 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge,' I've realized that it is leagues above 'Nightmare Anatomy.' Also, just because we hate Aiden doesn't make us all preps. I'm not going to speak for anyone else, but it's kind of obvious that most people here could be labeled as punk (who'da though?).

Honestly, if someone doesn't like your favorite band, it shouldn't be something you take sooo personal. Come on, everyone can have different opinions.

So please stop making ignorant posts that not only show you as extremly ignorant and shallow minded, but make you look like an idiot for being so narrow-minded and insulting people just because they have a different opinion then you.

on a personal perspective I know shit about this band that makes me just upset, but on a music perspective the band is even more troubling. never have I encountered a band (even developed local artists) with this little depth, originality, or even blind likeability. I'd rather listen to the Click Five than this because they lack depth and originality, but at least their CD doesn't reak of passive production and a complete absense of aesthetic value. seriously, go to music school and read some literature

Surprise of the week for me:

This piece of crap has only sold 16,000 copies since October.

In comparsion, Atreyu's 'The Curse' sold 35,000 on it's first week and 'Death-Grip' could (should) top that.

And one last thing, while On the Last Day is really similar to Aiden (location, sound, WIl Francis guest vocals on a song), there actually a little bit better. The singing isn't too bad and the shouting is okay, for the scene, OTLD are good, but overall, there still nothing good.

Hopefully all the Aiden fans jump ship to them. There at leats a little bit better lyrically, scene wise, and musically.

It's amazing that a genre with only a few heavy hitters can feel so saturated. I guess it's only inevitable when there's not even a single band in that saturated genre that could be described as reasonable.

1. Fix their lyrics
2. Drop their image that is so pathetic and hillarious

I really can't believe some people..is it that serious to write the same thing over and over 5 million times to get your point across? I like this band but they don't hold a candle to MCR they just don't have that special something MCR does for me. At least the re-release of their debult full length will be better than this. But not by much.

I tend to agree with general consenses that the lyrics are a bit clihed and that Aiden is trying to hard to look and sound like mcr but if any of you on here have ever listend to their first cd and demos of hte new cd before they signed to victory they were fucking awsome. So this band does have talent and i hope in the future they return old sound . Their first was called Our Gangs Dark Oath. go buy the old cd . It is way better

Well first off just want to say I like the album. I read a few things about the album and one of them was about how they use words in every song. The band says this is the reason for the albums title. Maybe they dont have the best lyrics or the best riffs but they are definitly doing what they want to do and i just happen to like it. Other people do as well. If your one of these people then dont worry about who doesnt like the album. The only thing that can make you a posuer is if you either like or dont like this album simply because of what someone else said. I commend anyone who has an opinion based on their own ideas.
And yes they do sound somewhat like mcr. And no im not really a fan of mcr but mcr's first album was much better than the new one. It may sound the same but i liked the first one much better. And perhaps the new one is just so over played that it has something to do with my opinion. Who knows?
Anyway im more into Atreyu, ill nino, rise against, story of the year....that kind of stuff but i remain un biased that Nightmare Anatomy is a good album and i feel that it only leaves a little to be desired. I also think the next time we hear an album from them people are going to hear something much different.

Aiden is great. Granted the vocals could use some work in a some spots (not many, though). But remember, these guys just graduated from high school, so they are young and will only get better. The songs are mostly great and they do a good job of mixing it up. Aiden rocks, I see big things from them in the future.
