The Briefs are important. They're a silly, vulgar, goofy little band that plays speedy little pop songs, yet they're important. It's because the Briefs, for me and I suspect for more than a few of you, represent an ideal. They prove that the spirit of `70s punk rock can be channelled today without having to pander to the mohawk and bondage set -- to the old men -- to that street punk pattern that's hashed and rehashed every year, competent (but of course it is) yet lifeless.

It seems like everyone here is ignorant to the fact that Hit After Hit exists. i just got this cd...holy crap i love it. Ok Chinatown, we get it. It's official: BYO Records have the WORST international mail order service ever. I ordered some stuff from them in July, and I've yet to receive it. I e-mailed them about it two weeks ago, and they still haven't responded. i think all of the libertines should be lined up and shot.....not realy...but lined up and then get the shit slapped out of em It's not shallow, and I'm sure I'll hear it at some point, but I'm so burnt out by constantly hearing about him that I'm not exactly running to the store. Come on...you can't be that shallow. Pete has his issues but the music speaks for itself... I haven't heard a thing from Babyshambles aside from some bootleg sessions from back when the Libs' were still together. Pete's managed to become such a colossal media whore in the time since that it's killed any interest I would have had. This album grows on me more with every listen...however, I'm curious on everyones take on the Babyshambles album. Figured it was somewhat relevant as I think Adam loves The Libertines as much as The Briefs...(as do I). I don't think it holds a candle to The previous Libertines albums but it is good...plus the fact that Kate Moss got busted with the little white lines during the recording session makes it that much better... Growing on me with every listen but "Sex Objects" sounded so fresh at the time I heard it (thanks to Adam's 2004 list) that I can't really compare... Good band, bad label. "Are the New Town Animals no more then? I love those guys. Great live band...." It is nothing but the truth my friend Steal Yer Heart is way gooder than Sex Obects. I saw them in Duluth MN at Shark's Pool Hall last year and got a blowjob from a married chick in the girls bathroom, so from what I saw they were good live. Also saw them this summer with Brain Failure and The Street Dogs at the Triple Rock, with my girlfriend. She didn't give me head and that is proof right there my friends, why girlfriends suck. So to all of you out there, stay single and be sluts. It's a lot more fun.< i> don't be crazy! SO is not better or worse, just different! Steal Yer Heart is a flawless follow up to SO. Steal Yer Heart is way gooder than Sex Obects. I love those guys. Great live band.... what happened with the Interscope deal? i had no idea this was already out. Eh. Their really not that great. Pretty generic "punk" that's been done before and will be done again. Orange Alert was a good song, however. Okay, since I'm not an expert on my Briefs-ology (nor do I have enough energy to get up, walk across the room and get my copies of their last three records to consult the liner notes), what are some of their more well-known songs from previous albums penned by Lance Romance? im still a little upset that its not as topical, lance being gone, but other than that, great records. im spinning it constantly as of late. I think kicks adds a bit of youth to it also, not that they needed it, but it still keeps it fairly new and i like that feel Definitely a bit more restrained than the last three, but still a really fun, yet sorta mature punk record. This is one of the only bands of this style I can even tolerate, let alone really get into. They're also phenomenal live. Getting Hit on at the Bank is my least favorite song on this album. I have no complaints otherwise. I finally listened to Sex Objects recently, and yeah, it's their best output thus far. This is a fair second, though. |
