Those of us born around or before the mid-eighties got to experience an amazing period of time in hardcore punk. An era where hardcore music could be melodic without being sappy, emotional without being whinny and girls' pants were worn by girls. This brings me to Fury 66, a band I first heard in my friend’s car as he introduced them: “A new band that has something to do with Good Riddance.” I wouldn’t learn until later that at one time that ¾ of Good Riddance played in Fury 66 or that lead singer Joe Clements, along with GR singer Russ Rankin would go on to run Lorelei Records. I would, however, always remember how amazing that album was and thinking Fury 66 was going to be huge.

that last wasnt really correct either, i decided to say "hi", not "whats up" that was a lie. i read parts of it...had the same thoughts as rkl, and read a little more, then noticed rkl posted my thoughts, then saw your reply, then decided to say "whats up" hi dante. i didnt read your review.... RKL, hey you're right about missing some of the great hardcore of the early 80's but that's not something I ever want to dwell on. Thinking I missed the original DK or Black Flag is enough to make me want to pull my eyes out. those of us born in 80-85 missed the great period in hardcore because we were just beansprouts when shit was going on. Fury 66 was the shit. I always wondered whatever happened to Fury 66. |
