The first time I listened to this album I was in my room, lying on my bed. After the second song I was up and slam dancing. Trust me, I am not making this up. That's the first and only time an album has inspired me to slam dance. This album has that classic `80s hardcore sound that we all know and love. It's fast, loud (even when the volume is low), in your face, aggresive, and energetic as fuck. Also, the incredibly shitty production makes it even more raw and personal. This is truly a fucking amazing album; I'm gonna say it's the best hardcore album ever made (I know I'm gonna get a lot of shit for that, but fuck it). It's even better than Minor Threat (and if you like them, you'll fucking love this shit!).
Waving your flag a blind patriotGoddamn how I love this album. Do yourself a favor and buy this. At the very least, download it (if you do that, make sure you download every song). Just don't do yourself a diservice by not hearing this. It is truly something you have to listen to yourself; there is no way to capture the energy of this in a review. Why the FUCK don't bands sound like this anymore goddammit?? Okay - The album is AMAZING - and I'm not just saying that because my picture is on the back. Who knew that???????? to those who said Youth Of Today was such a generic name, i'm guessing that they dont know that's what the band meant to do. they lived in an era were people said Hardcore was generic, so the band tried to come up with the most generic band name ever and that's how the band came to be known as Youth Of Today. If you flip the album over, the girl with the Mickey Mouse shirt on the side of the stage is Jana Smalley from Scituate, Mass. I never called Moby a hippy. And his veganism is the only thing I like about him. I said he was a doucebag who makes shitty music. Yeah, where is superdude? And Mr. Reviewer, are you praising YOT (vegetarian straight-edgers) here but calling Moby a hippy in another post because he's straight-edge and vegetarian??? I'm confused. i like shelter. Note to self: NEVER slam dance OR make mention to the term. Ways to make this review better: Me. You. Youth. Crew. still one of the greatest records Hmmm... kind of like: Best opening of ANY album ever. "WE'RE BACK!!!!"-Ray Cappo i guess its not really surprising, but Fuckyouoioioi has potty mouth I thought it was a good review. This is a pretty damn great album, my personal favorite from YOT. "Wake up and liiiiiiiiiiiive!" If I didn't think Ray Cappo and sXe were so fucking laughable...I'd probably like YOT more. Pass the dutchie on the left hand side! Excellent album. This album gets an 8 only cause "Break Down The Walls" is an 11 and "Can't Close My Eyes" has "Me - You - Youth - Crew!" Even the "Disengage" single is a 6.5/7. Tell, not tall...Way to fuck it up homeboy. This band is awful! I've never heard that single. All I know is that they were fucking awesome Japanese hardcore. Gayrilla Biscuits are so much better. sellllouuuuuuuts. lip cream? will! i'm disappointed in you :( "youth of today is pretty good but sorry, the bad brains roir sessions makes this band look silly." please, for the love of hardcore, dont download anything off this album. just go to the damn record store and buy it, like everyone else had to do before the technological revolution that's ruining music began. did anybody see that pop rock band mcfly wearing Youth Of Today T-shirts in one of their videos, they must have costume dressers for themselves! as also a pop band group called liberty x had Youth Of Today Tees on wow, how lame, and man my TV sucks for that. i slightly prefer bread down the walls, but this is still damn good. if you're looking for bands that still have this sound, check out Lights Out, especially the album "get out" on youngblood records. PS- There are plenty of recent bands that sound exactly like this and are doing the exact same thing. With Honor, anyone? This style of hardcore is almost as played out and corny as moshXcore or whatever. Better than Minor Threat? Not at all. They are faster and not as distinctly melodic. They sound more like a cleaned up early era Agnostic Front style band than anything out of DC.
