The Adolescents' classic self-titled album whips through 16 songs in 37 minutes. It has the gritty sound recording, high energy, and all-around snottiness you'd expect from an `80s hardcore band. It shit-talks cops, the government, and all the bullshit one experiences when living in Orange County. It is a must own album for any punk.

Timeless. That's it really, a blueprint for many snot-nosed punk bands to come. It's raw, real, and honest. I felt like aside from "Creatures", the album begins to lose momentum on the last six tracks, but that's about the only thing i find wrong with it. one of the best of the orange county punk bands. I got this album not thinking much of it, because, yeah, the album cover was not very interesting. It was a big smack in the face when I heard I hate Children for the first time. It's addicting. I can't stop listening to the CD. Definitely one of my favorite of all time. Must have for anyone who claims to like "punk" music or "good music" in general. I got this on vinyl a couple of months ago and heard a line i had never heard before: "The girls are hot and full of cheers- pleasers! But they all say no so i jerk white tears- teasers!". This album is one of my favorites. The best song in my opinion is "Kids Of The Black Hole", but i think all the songs are really good. "Cos: I feel the same way about both these guys and Minor Threat. If someone had handed these records to me when I was 15 and made me listen, then my high school years would've been much more fun." It's the LA style by default since The Germs were the only real LA hardcore styled band... And maybe the Consumers. Yeah, Circle Jerks/Black Flag/Descendents are from the South Bay (Hermosa more specifically). It's in LA County, but it's a completely different lifestyle -- probably closer to Orange County than the actual city of LA. I used to think LA Girl was a Jughead's Revenge song until I heard the original not too long ago and felt like an idiot. I kind of wish I knew who the Adolescents were when I was in High School. It's the prefect soundtrack to teen angst. Cos: I feel the same way about both these guys and Minor Threat. If someone had handed these records to me when I was 15 and made me listen, then my high school years would've been much more fun. Black Flag and Circle Jerks weren't really LA bands. Both were from the beach communities (I think Hermosa Beach, but maybe its Redondo or something) and weren't really accepted in the LA crowd of X, et al. Like the Germs, they found more acceptance in the outer regions of LA and Orange County, hence their simillar sounds. Also, Bad Religion is from the San Fernando Valley. hahah, now i'm kinda afraid fuckyou is gonna write a review of only swears One of the greatest punk records I've ever heard. i bought this yesterday its so fuckin great Spot on, superdude. Oh yeah, my comment was by me. I am all for LA and other OC punk, definately (except Bad Religion, augh), but this is just the soundtrack to suburban teen angst. Maybe they weren't as invovled in the LA scene and whatever, but they brought a classic to the table right away and every note is right-on. Meh. Not the best of SoCal 2nd wave punk. That would be Bad Religion, or the Circle Jerks. Still, better than TSOL's "Dance With Me" This review was pretty good, but here's how I would make it better: Best adolescents song?-------amoeba. no mention of "wrecking crew". wtf? it's the best song on the album. shit review. score is for the album and me seeing them in a month. don't review an album you don't know shit about Best 80's punk album? Tied with damaged, fresh fruit, the age of quarrel and i don't want to grow up, but this one might be the most important to me. lol....like jones and almostpunk said, i was looking forward to more vulgarity derp, forgot the score. good review man. This is one of my favorite albums, but come on FuckYouOiOiOi. Think before you write and submit. Holy shit, after reading the insert I realize that those last three songs aren't on the real album. I can't believe I missed that before, I'm a fucking idiot. This whole time I thought those last three songs were on the real album. Fucking shit fuck motherfucker!! I was too tired to type a bunch of swears when I wrote the review, sorry. Next fucking time I will fucking make fucking sure I add enough goddam motherfucking swears!!!! And without those last three songs, the album gets a 10. Like the last comment said: This album is awesome. I admit, it's a good album and all but what a stupid review. Seriously, does punknews.org even review these before they put them up? I admit, it's a good album and all but what a stupid review. Seriously, does punknews.org even review these before they put them up? Stone cold classic. The last 3 songs on the cd don't count because they're a seven inch. Every song on the origninal album is fucking great. Very OC punk, D.I. and the Rikk Agnew "All By Myself" record are the next steps if you haven't already taken them. "All By Myself" shows up as bonus tracks on some cd re-issue of another OC punk lp (I forget which one). Adolescents are awesome, but I personally am more into LA punk than the OC, as I like to call it. It's kind of a poppier version of Germs, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, ETCETERA. The last three songs are from the "Welcome to Reality" 7", so it's understandable they sound a little different from the rest of the album. Few things about this review... KOTBH>...best riff ever! hm, kinda disapointed, i expected more cursing. like last time the album cover is classic, fool! |
