I and my friend Dan experienced a bit of subway delay action and thus walked into New York City's the Knitting Factory a song or two into Lorene Drive's set. On paper the band is the obvious odd one out, but in the live setting they aurally pump up that Glassjaw influence, so they weren't completely out of place. Still, their brand of rock-fueled, modern melodic post-hardcore with typical relationship fare and fairly whiny vocals seemed pretty displaced in context of the lineup. They had a few fans in attendance, but even then there were a few embarrassing moments. With the guitars much more prominent on stage than on record, so were the band's attempted breakdown; yes, there was a real breakdown in one of their songs. Why, I don't know, maybe to relate to their tourmates. At one point, during this said breakdown come to think of it, the singer urged the crowd to "get this place moving;" needless to say, it remained stagnant. I still don't think Lorene Drive is a terrible band per se, as they're an iota better live than on their album, Romantic Wealth, but regardless, it was a generic display of rock I still wasn't feeling.

OOOOO I MET THE SINGER FROM THE USED AND I TOOK MY PICTURE WITH HIM Dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomriders Cave In / Doomriders / Lorene Drive - live in New York i went to this in chicago Doomriders? J.R. didn't leave, he's just currently living in Germany and the band needed someone to fill his shoes until he comes back (if he comes back). Ben is semi-permanent, but would be relieved of his duties were J.R. to move back to the States. by the way, i don't like the new songs at all. theyre both really fast and i just dont think it works for them. by the way, i don't like the new songs at all. theyre both really fast and i just dont think it works for them. When and why did J.R. leave? have you ever realized that maybe ben koller doesn't know EVERY single song in the cave in catalog? he IS in another pretty good band. Lorene Drive is the best band on this tour and it proabably better than 99% of what you idiots listen to. Their music is very artistic and profound. Time to hang it up Superdude. Time to hang up that keyboard. Thank you. Just because it involves motorcycle imagery doesn't mean it's from the South. This review was pretty good, but here's how I would make it better: "Motörhead-styled Southern rock'n'roll/metal" i was in the midst of reviewing this, but you must have submitted this during the encore of juggernaut. it was a great show, fuck the hipsters and fratboys during doom. cave in played great and in typical cave in fashion started off with the slower songs to make the crowd feel awkward before busting out in all rock and roll glory My friend attended this show. He told me that Cave-In played a pretty decent set but the night belonged to Doomriders. Aside from wanting to see the last band I mentioned, I already had my Cave-In fix when I saw them with Converge at the Knit some time ago. Motorhead is British. That whole scene is from the limeys. Just because it involves motorcycle imagery doesn't mean it's from the South. Just got home from this tour in Cleveland. Lorene Drive was as sore an appendage as possible, Doomriders slayed, and Cave In played the exact same set (minus the encore). People were yelling out for "Crambone" and "Crossbearer," but the band weren't having any of it. I also wished they would've played more Jupiter-era stuff, or even some of the poppier tracks off Antenna, but was still sufficiently rocked. who wrote that doomriders review you linked too? i bet he's handsome. he sounds handsome |
