Before the release of this split, it had been a while since I had heard anything about Alexisonfire. They’d play a short tour occasionally, but there was no word on recording of any sort until recently, when I caught wind of their split EP with Moneen. It’s no normal split, however. Alexisonfire and Moneen have decided to each cover two songs of the opposite band, and contribute a new track of their own.

it's alexis on fire. They named themselves after a lactating stripper contortionist. there are tons of bands named after minor threat songs already, like look back and laugh, and rites of spring songs too, end on end, their all great. "Hmmm, Moneen is by far one of the best bands to come out of Canada, along with Propagandhi, Billy Talent and Alexisonfire. I've yet to hear The Cancer Bats yet I've been dying to hear them." I love both bands a lot, but this split is weak. could INXS be considered canadian now? Did somebody say something about Luke Skawalker? is it alex is on fire or alexis on fire, or a lexis on fire? Hmmm, Moneen is by far one of the best bands to come out of Canada, along with Propagandhi, Billy Talent and Alexisonfire. I've yet to hear The Cancer Bats yet I've been dying to hear them. Splits are sometimes awesome just because of the bands lined up. i mean, i got the less than jake/slayer split, but i don't really remember listening to it, becuase i just get stuck everytime i take it out, going "...whoooaa......slayer........." best canadian bands are either fuck these douche bags, their luke skywalker heaircuts, ohio is for lovers slogan t-shirts, and american eagle ripped jeans. fuck their shitty inane lyrics and boring music. I saw Coffin Dancer over the summer at The Alley while I was down there, and they were tremendous. Ex Tryanny Of Shaw singer I believe. Anyhow, great band, and I'll check the others out. anchors check out these bands from miami on myspace: capsule, devices, dead lions, coffin dancer, and i love you.....youll probably dig them Best band from Canada= either DOA or the Subhumans (yes, there is a Canadian Subhumans formed at the same time.....and they are just as good, if not better, than their UK twins) And Kaospilot. I actually just got a Van Johnson/Kaospilot 7" in the mail today that I can't wait to listen to. I just don't have a record player at school. check out Dallas Green's solo shit. Its "Virginia is for Lovers" you misinformed twat. Propagandhi is the best band from canada, you stupid fucks. Alexisonfire is NOT one of the best bands out there. Are you fucking retarded?! This is the same goddamn band that wrote that song '44. calibre love letter to your heart' or some shit..yep, that's really reeking of "greatness'. Thier last album wasn't anything great either. next! I liked this split alot better when Coalesce and The Get up Kids did it. Alexisonfire is one of the best bands out there. their new track on the switch is definitely one of their best god knows no band has ever done a split and covered each others songs before... And is the story about the porn site really true? I don't see how that does anything but bring her more publicity and shit. I can't imagine why she would think its a bad thing. "Alexisonfire are the worst live band i have ever seen` The only thing worse than kids who hate music just because it doesn't fit into their scene are kids who hate music just because it does fit into a scene. Meh, I saw "AOF" and thought "Whoa! Articles Of Faith covers? Sweet". Then I realised it's this scene bullshit drivel. And fuck Henry Rollins while you're at it, Charlie Sheen was in Platoon. woah anchors is staff now!? when the fuck did this happen!? congrats on that...but seriously, this split is some good shit. I assume the title is a "Chase" reference. These guys aren't anything special....no screamo is that I have heard. Maybe if they tried to rock like Hank rather than use his name in a song, they might get somewhere. For me, a general rule for this album is that any track below 5 minutes in length is a keeper. The Passing of America cover is pretty solid, as well as Moneen's cover of Sharks and Danger (Though I can't say it takes many liberties w/ AOF's version). The new Moneen track bored me, but Anchors is dead on when he says "Charlie Sheen vs. Henry Rollins" is one of the best AOF songs to date, despite its name. Excellent review, it's pretty much everything I thought about the split. Me, being a huge Moneen and Alexisonfire fan, truly enjoyed this EP. I even wrote a review on it, which was outdone by Achors here. i though the production on the new Alexisonfire song was fine though, the guitars were perfect in my opinion. The most well known band there is Saetia, who split up in 1999 and some people went on to form Off Minor, and some went on to form Hot Cross, who are both excellent bands as well. hey anchors can you recommend some screamo bands....i'm not that new to the genre but i want to ge t some more bands i havent heard I'm gonna name my new band after a gayrilla biscuits song. I can't decide between "No Homosexual Surrender" or "Nailed in the Ass". isn't minor threat named after a song by minor threat? i hate when people complain about bands/labels named after old band songs...especially when its a title like this. you think quicksand fucking made up the term "dine alone" or what? To the kid down below, I have seen Alexisonfire live.. 4 times I believe. The first time I saw them was about 2 years ago, and they were pretty terrible sound-wise. But every time since, they've been nothing but incredibly impressive. Sound, stage presence, everything, dudes can put on a real solid show. I know it's cliche to say "I hate all things _________" before describing a band that fits that genre, but Alexisonfire are one of the few listenable screamo bands and it's largely because Dallas can fucking sing. They're definitely one of the best at what they do. Labels bearing the name of Quicksand song titles? I love Moneen. Can't say much for Alexisonfire though. Looks like the Alkaline Trio logo? no. The Dead hearts logo? Yes. Bleed And Blister is 5 minutes of pure emotional energy. The breakdown at the end is sick and gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it. Can't wait for the new cd. Anchors, have you ever seen Alexisonfire live? I think you would really enjoy them, not only becuase you like both albums. I thought they were pretty good before, but they impressed me so much that they moved up quite a few notches on the ol' favorite bands list. They gave off a total Shai Hulud vibe in their passion and how well they connected with the fans. George totally reminded me of Geert with the sway he held over the crowd, plus he had a lot of Geert's superhero stances. Dallas reminds me a lot of Matt Fox. Accidents was a bone-chilling closer. Just a bunch of dudes with energy to spare giving everything on stage. SomeoneAnonymous, it's "Alexis On Fire", not "Alex Is On Fire". The name comes from a stripper called Alexis Fire. Alexisonfire.com was her website. She wasn't too happy that the band borrowed her website name for their band name but being a dumb stripper she hadn't bothered to copyright it, and hence was fucked, both literally and figuratively. Do you pronounce the name of this band "Alexis on fire" or "Alex is on fire"? oh wow, look, the alexisonfire logo looks strikingly similar to the alkaline trio logo. wow. Since when were Alexisonfire metalcore? I can understand emo, emocore, posthardcore, whatever buzzwords are being thrown around...but metalcore? That's just ridiculous. I liked moneen better when they were called a blender that had thursday and explosions in the sky in it. is there only 3 songs on this album? you said they each play two covers each but you only listed one of each. I assume you left them out for reason of being sucky i guess. Im lazy i guess i can just look up the album online.... anchors.org "Wannabe metalcore" doesn't even make sense. It's not hard to be a metalcore band, if that's what they wanted to play, I'm sure they could add some double bass and breakdowns and bring the mosh! This ep was better when it was Small Brown Bike and The Casket Lottery..... You're right, that band isn't going anywhere, because no one cares about a shitty wannabe metalcore band that sucks. So you're 100% right. They'll eventually breakup, and when they do they'll have zero friends, and they'll be cold and bitter about why they never hit it big, even with their popular formulaic songwriting.
