At some point, God said "let there be hardcore" and soon after that, the "almighty one" couldn't handle it anymore, and then said "ah, the hell with it, let Orange County deal with them." Fast forward a couple years and we have the story of the OC's Bleeding Through.

In 2005, Trustkill Records has provided us with a DVD of one of the scene's most hard-charging bands (or so the label would lead you to believe depending how you look at things), Bleeding Through.

Band DVDs are hit and miss. Some are for die-hard fans; others like the Bouncing Souls are for fans of music that can truly appreciate the story of a band that is determined to "make it." Wolves Among Sheep falls into the latter category.

At a running time of 2 hours, we are hit with a documentary of epic proportions. Former Eighteen Visions guitarist and current Bleeding Through mouthpiece and leader Brandon Schipetti leads off the DVD talking about his band, his scene, and what the life is like. This DVD lets you know that the band is not a one dog show, as each and every member (current and former) is given proper airtime to talk about the band, its past and future.

Unlike a lot of hardcore bands, this one isn't made up of yeah dudes and bros. The band has wide-ranging influences (who would have thought bassist Ryan Wombacher's pedigree comes from a psychobilly background?), a good sense of humor (they have nicknames for everyone and their mother), their dedication and importance to the scene (as Eighteen Visions and Throwdown will attest), and a commitment to make this band the best they possibly can. Obviously, Metallica is on a much bigger scale, but in "Some Kind of Monster," you can tell the band is now a business to them, and when their new bassist entered, you can tell he would just get a phone call from Lars when it is time to go out on tour. When Bleeding Through had keyboardist Marta enter the fold, it was like they adopted a new member of the family and they embraced it. Touring in a van, rather then multiple buses will do that to a band

As extras go, this DVD is excellent. As you watch the story unfold, you forget how intense this band is on stage untill you witness the full set they provide with the package. The strength of the package is also its weakness. The live set the band provides is pummeling and raw with no mixing or going back in the studio. While awesome and gutsy, people that aren't huge fans of the band may have trouble picking up the different elements in the songs. Besides the one set from this summer's Strhess Tour, Bleeding Through also provides other songs from random shows, a music video for "Love Lost in a Hail of Gunfire" and other on-the-road hijinx.

This collection is definitely worth the money. It is the perfect edition to a DVD collection for a rabid fan, a music enthusist, or a fan of the real OC. Cheers Bleeding Through.

All I know is that it's completely preposterous to compare Jade Tree to Trustkill or Ferret...

    -Will

    Anchors (December 31, 2005)

Ferret has some good bands remaining. Dead Hearts, for one, are amazing. A Life Once Lost, The Bronx, and Suicide Note aren't that bad either. They have some shitty bands, but Trustkill simply cannot be topped in that department.

    Anonymous (December 30, 2005)

metal core is as shitty as good charlotte you trendy wanker

    Anonymous (December 30, 2005)

Aw quit your bitching you silly americans! bleeding through fuckin' rule-go home and listen to good charlotte or fall out boy-mwah hahahaha

    Anonymous (December 30, 2005)

This band is pretty terrible. The keyboards make it sound like bad circus-death music...at least in my (and other people's) opinion.

That cover of Rocket Queen was awful, by the way.

    BrandonSideleau (December 29, 2005)

    fuck metalcore

Yeah, by no means are they the best label out there, but they have integrity and some awesome releases... So I don't know what the fuck RKL is talking about.

I don't pay too much attention to jade tree, but I beleive they have/had some good bands.

    theundergroundscene (December 29, 2005)

    rkl (December 29, 2005)

    how bout jade tree?

    benz (December 29, 2005)

Comparing Ferret and Trustkill is like comparing oranges with oranges. I still think Trustkill is the moldier of the bunch.

Further proof that Trustkill is the worst label of all time.

i think youre forgetting about ferret.

bt did a good cover of rocket queen, but their own songs are pretty much shit. not because i hate metal, by any means, their songs are just shitty.

Bleeding Through are only being realised cas' they have a member who plays kepboards, now thats PATHETIC.....Want a real "Metal-core" band, check out Australias Parkway Drive, they easily beat any other American Metal-core band.

    Mute98 (December 28, 2005)

im from orange county.. a lot better bands than these shitheads

    Jim_Neighbors (December 28, 2005)

"You realize places like Santa Ana and Garden Grove are in the OC too, right?"

Yes I do. We took that trip to Garden Grove, smelled like Lou Dog inside the van.

    I thought you would've remembered.....

    Anonymous (December 28, 2005)

Oh you bunch of pussy whiners, desperately clinging to genre names like capsized rats. Have you actually been to the OC anyway? You realize places like Santa Ana and Garden Grove are in the OC too, right?

    Anonymous (December 28, 2005)

fuck the OC, real and fake.

    What song would that be?

    BrandonSideleau (December 27, 2005)

Too bad the best hardcore bands came from OTHER places. OH yeah....and this band blows......the fact that they butchered my favorite song of all time by covering it only adds to my hatred for them.

    SoupIsGoodFood (December 27, 2005)

    Their keyboardist is a fox.

    benz (December 27, 2005)

    "Because they released a dvd?"

No, because they release this music.

You know, Keven Federline (Britney Spears' husband) has a record next year also named "The Truth."

As to which one is going to be the biggest turd, I guess we'll have to see.

"Further proof that Trustkill is the worst label of all time.

    Because they released a dvd?

    etwiels88 (December 27, 2005)

I just watched this last night. I don't love or hate Bleeding Through. I know their songs, but I'm not a huge fan. This DVD is great. Get into it.

"This band has nothing to do with hardcore.

    Metal sucks.

    -Will"

ah yes, will, thank you for helping us lesser folks realize that an entire genre of music "sucks". and you provide such wonderful reasoning for this earth-shattering revelation! sigh, i never grow tired of elitists stating opinion as fact and writing off entire genres in a single sentance.

i can't stand this band, though.

    skolarx (December 27, 2005)

the "on the road hijinx" wouldn't include an "inside the van point of view" of that icy road crash a couple years back, would it?

no but that is the first thing they show on the dvd. the dvd isn't bad, i'm a big fan of the band so that probably skews my veiw a little but i think its better than most other band dvds i have. plus it was only 8 bucks so i can't complain

    Anonymous (December 27, 2005)

    fuck this band!

    SalsaShark (December 27, 2005)

I'd check out their live show. Not a big fan of their music, but it looks like it'd be fun.

i read the first 2 sentences and deemed this the worst reveiw ever.

    Anonymous (December 27, 2005)

if this band was good, i would totally check this dvd out.

just want to remind you all that orange county is NOT los angeles. regardless of what the angesl would try and tell you.
