Most readers on this site already know the deal with Some Girls: Ex-members of highly influential screamo/hardcore bands form "supergroup" and tear ass through minute-long songs with stellar easiness and complexity that is unrivaled by its peers. For the few who are new to Some Girls, pick up the members' former and current bands' (American Nightmare / Give Up the Ghost, the Locust, the Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower) albums and play them all at the same time. The result is total dischord, chaos, and noise...but every once in a while, every song will come together to make an intense and brutal progression. That is what Some Girls is.

I can't say enough about this band. Fucking great. Oh, and as for that dick below me, I don't listen to Hawthorne Heights. You want a real band, listen to Bad Religion. Some girls are fucking shit. HEY LETS JUST BASH EPITAPH AND SAY HOW SHITTY SOME GIRLS IS! any of you kids that talk shit about them couldnt write anything close nearly as good as wes's lyrics. or the music for that matter. this band is almost as bad as the locust. suck= some girls why does this band get so much shit on here? is it cause its epitaph and its cool for 12 year olds to hate epitaph now? justin's bass is awesome. it's clear. you could see his crotch while he jammed. also.. their closing song "deathface" was probably the most awesome jam session i've heard since i saw the mars volta. Looks like Epitaph will sign anyone. Epitaph sucks. Honestly, what does this band have to do with the Daughters besides the fact that they both have fem names? Not my cup of tea. they're like a bad Daughters, but still pretty good. The DNA Will Have Its Say is a great album. I haven't even heard this one though, so score is for the band. It just goes to show, you really can't polish a TURD! *flaccid this score is for will's use of the word "flacid" to describe music With American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost, his vocals and lyrics were more out of desperation. On Some Girls, his vocals and lyrics are more sarcastic and sort of "I don't give a fuck". I always wondered when a punk band would step up and cover one of PiL's good songs. The lyrics are so great, but music-wise, the post-Levene/Wobble period is flaccid. Great album. sounds like a bazillion bands from the 90s. interesting at moments but overall pretty familiar. i would prefer to see some hot chicks screamin but wat the heck..lets listen to this mate! A lot of people were complaining that Wes seems to "talk" more in Some Girls than scream. My friend came up with a good rationale, I think: the old stuff wasnt that good, but i dig the new shit, i get a refused vibe from it yeah jones - it's like juliana hatfield or someone... i get all those women confused! mmm mmm mmm... there is another some girls that are a chick band. i dont know if they are still together, and i may be mistaken, but i think someone famous or someone famous's daughter(?) is in that one up until yesterday, i thought this was a chick band. i had no idea it was guys in this band. good band. are there lyrics online for this anywhere? as comic book guy would say.....worst album everrr! maybe you should mention that rob (guitar) was in motherfucking UNBROKEN, a band vastly superior to any of the other band members' ex/present bands. all you kids should go pick up "life.love.regret" by unbroken and recieve a piece of hardcore history. I thought i sounded a little different from the eps they put out, sounds (dare i say it) a little more organised. Complex? Really? It alway seemed like the aforementioned bands these dudes come from are more interesting. This stuff is ok, but a little style over substance for my tastes. I imagine they've probably got enough songs now to be able to play for long enough to make it worth your money. They've done, what, three albums in two years? Give me some info on how the show was, how long they played for. I plunked donw twelve bucks to see them next week so I'm hoping for at least a half an hour set. i just saw these guys tonight...shit was INTENSE...great band I can't believe you didn't mention the fact that "Deathface" goes on for nine minutes despite the fact it's only one chord! Without that, the album is 12 songs in aproximately 14 minutes its funny. i always used the term "screamo" in place of "bad" This album is Great. I Have not stopped listening to it since i Got and their old stuff never gets old either. Truly a Great Band. |
