i dunno.... i thought it was good. and i do definitly think i represents a peice of punk history. my only problem was the obvious voice overs. there are times when Dennis should be singing, but he stops to breath which is understandable. but you can still hear his voice. hes not singing, and i dont know if they actually did that at shows or just for the dvd. and the last song, Rather Be Dead, at their last performance. the members of the band arent even playing their instruments and you can still hear Rather Be Dead playing. that was my only problem with it. i think it had excellent extras, and i think it should get a 10. I think the 'film' was pretty decent. I finally got the DVD. I think it was better than what the reviewer said. The film's artistic side is top notch and the music is perfect. The sound of the live videos is not that great, but there's some stellar performance to see. The videos for "New Noise" and "Rather Be Dead" are also great additions. But like the reviewer said, it's pretty short. " But these guys were not situationists, and their music sounds like a less interesting latter-era Born Against than NoU." rather be dead was cut off by the cops.. I saw one of the last shows on the tour (DC) I think it was like the second to last show. It was without a doubt one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen in my life. I remeber talking to Pony when he got back from that tour. Frodus had a hell of a time after Refused left. Lot of problems and shit. so, i got my dvd yesterday. i just watched it. I have to say, it's a bit disappointing like has been said. There has just been so much hype about the dvd that i expected so much more from it. I expected to see what was performed at their last show before it was shut down. I guess that was just a misunderstanding in what was told about the dvd. I can't find it anywhere! "The only two songs I've heard from these chumps are "New Noise" and "Punkholiday" (on P-O-R 4). Both suck immense amounts of ass. T(I)NC is way better. That's all. Yeah, they sort of turned into latter era born against, but they started out being all victorycore (keep in mind, this is the early 90s) and tough guy. The only two songs I've heard from these chumps are "New Noise" and "Punkholiday" (on P-O-R 4). Both suck immense amounts of ass. T(I)NC is way better. That's all. "Who knew that ripping off NOU could get you so far?" Wyzo, head on the nail dude, head on the nail. Why does Refused get called a Nation Of Ulysses ripoff? My guess is that the people saying it have never even heard NOU and read it somewhere. They don't sound alike so the only aspect where they're similar is the liner notes and NOU's liner notes were Tounge in Cheek whereas Refused's were serious. Stop saying "overrated"! STOP IT! Who knew that ripping off NOU could get you so far? So I saw this at the store today.. I didn't get it. Stop saying "overrated"! STOP IT! Quite possibly the most overrated band ever! Oops, I meant to give it this score. That's me below. Damn. I really enjoyed this. The film part was rather moving. It was different sure, but I thought it was so good. Great band. I hope T(I)NC gets a dvd out soon, they've got shitloads of great footage. Oh, and "The Shape of Punk to Come" was the shape of punk to come.. atleast athestically speaking. no one has a fucking torrent link. dude, enough about the torrent link. "Everywhere is sold out. :(" fuck you guys for not liking amazing music. they are the best band ever. I haven't heard much of this band, but the one or two songs I did hear sound like "new-school" screamo-type hardcore to me. Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention, but they sounded like Dillinger Escape Plan. And I HATE DEP. So...instead of spending your time watching this, use that little part of your day to write a letter to Sam McPheeters, nicely, but forcefully, asking him to re-form the Wrangler Brutes. Everywhere is sold out. :( "oh yeah, and so was your beloved chris hannah. " so how exactly were they obnoxious? i do not understand..... You should've seen it a year ago, it was alot worse than the final relased version. Considering this was meant to be released like 2 years ago or something, all the extra work on it should have made this orgasmic. not every band is going to release a bouncing souls esque dvd so how exactly were they obnoxious? i do not understand..... Think that footage of their last show will ever be released? Well if refused is in fact "fucking dead", then why won't they die? If you were into the band when they were together it's a pretty good legacy overview, because no matter if you like it or not, the band were always like that. Hey! I asked for a torrent link. Although i probably shouldnt, Im probably gonna buy this anyway. I dont ill mind the live footage. Kid Dynamite's footage wasnt good at all and the audio was even worse but their shows were so energetic that it was still fun to watch. Im hoping this will be the same. for some reason this seems like it would be a lot like the turbonegro dvd, ResErection. you other than turbonegro being vastly better than refused and it being in norwegian rather than swedish. oh there is also that the turbo dvd was covering their reunion not their demise even though this is not at all a laughing matter, for some reason, the first words of the first review of this dvd on interpunk, saying, DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF SHIT, actually made me laugh. cantsitstill: If they had never made "The Shape..." no one would know or care about this band. They were generic hardcore before. Mind you, being from Argentina, I haven't had the chance to watch the DVD yet (ordered it last Friday) but to all of you who are voicing your disappointment because the live footage is sub-par, haven't you thought that maybe the purpose of this DVD was to focuse more on the biographical aspects of the band? I mean, with music DVDs it's either a documentary (this case) or a live performance. OK, maybe you were expecting both in a double disc? When it's about my favourite bands I for one enjoy interviews as much as the live performance. That's why I expected more from the Bad Religion Live at the Palladium DVD in terms of insights from the band members. I found them to be pretty basic for the hardcore fan (crossbuster meaning, band name meaning). And that one also took like more than two years to be edited. Great review, I have to agree i am somewhat disappointed by this DVD. I was hoping for something that was as mind blowing as hearing "The Shape of Punk to Come" for the first time. But aside from the build up of tension in the trailer and the first few minutes of the DVD it was nowhere near what i expected. Just finished watching it.. I must say I'm a bit disappointed. I agree with the review. overall a bit disappointing....but its still way better than the new taking back sunday...which im glad to say i do not own This sucks. Way to ruin my day... This band gets my vote for "Most overrated hardcore band ever". Good songs, nothing mind-blowing. If they had never made "The Shape..." no one would know or care about this band. They were generic hardcore before. Disappointing... GOd, this band FUCKING BLOWS!!!! Why do people worship these assholes? If they still existed, no one would give a flying fuck about them. Two things: Eh, there's still hope for the Botch DVD. This DVD just ruined everyone's Summer -- I guess we'll have to settle for the "Punk Routine" side of things. The biggest cocktease of the past three years. At least the Rumbleseat discography took forever and was good. This thing's a waste of plastic. dvd was actually very good...stop complaining about it! The "clear" shots on this DvD were recolorized and digitally enhanced by my friend at the Chicago's film workers club for them. For free. I hope he got into the credits "But the autopsy is kinda half-assed" Hey Brian, well written review, by the way. fuck fuck fuck. this is a huge bummer. im still going to get it becuase i gotta see it, but i thought, as we all did, that it was going to be the best thing ever. i have read some reviews that say the live footage is really good, which is what i mostly care about. but im sure this review is telling it more like it is than the other reviews i read. Damn, I just ordered this yesterday. I though it was going to be fucking rad seeing as how it's been in the works for about 2 years. what a bummer this review is.. well written and solid arguments all around.. I will still buy this. ...and i was planning on waking up early to get my reserved copy... fuck fuck fuck! i really wanted this to be good... why is it all spread out? "But the autopsy is kinda half-assed" But where is the new VTM? I understand why a lot of people were disappointed. We were all expecting Along The Way and we got Refused by-way-of Lars Von Trier. Forget this review. But where is the new VTM? i was really looking forward to this too what a half assed DVD. I'll pass. lol, score is for the first two lines of this review Nooooooooooooooooooooo. |
