Soon after L7’s popularity peaked, bassist Jennifer Finch hit the road. She stayed out of the spotlight for a few years -- mind a couple small projects -- but after a friend of hers died in a car accident, she was inspired to write music and start up a band. And that band is the Shocker. Wow, what a memorial.

Two in the pink, one in the stink, right? Or is it the other way round? This band is fun. The lyrics are in no way as moronic as Blink or the Vandals - and some are clever if you pay attention. That 5 star review reeks of a band member posting about themselves. I think this record was really good- the first 2 or 3 times they released it. I loved L7 through "Bricks Are Heavy" and was pretty stoked on this record when it came out in 2003 or 2004. Just checked www.gokartrecords.com - you can listen to the entire album @ http://www.gokartrecords.com/__POP_UP__/ One of the only girl punk bands with sill ass lyrics that didn't suck was the Lunnachicks. They managed to be gross, funny and actually insightful. This sounds totally awful. This stuff is just plain bad. ..or even the 'omega shocker'. hot damn. Well, music aside, I wouldn't mind giving the girl on the cover "the shocker". |
