Near Miss contributed 3 very confusing and distracted songs on a 3-way split EP about a year ago on Takeover Records. As their sophomore full-length here, Testing the Ends of What They'll Put Up With (their first in nearly 4 years [!]), was recorded around the same time, it suffers from the same problems. Near Miss is a melodic punk band who, instead of seamlessly combining the pop, rock and skate-inflected punk styles into their sound, awkwardly throws moments of each around, often resulting in very uncomfortable scenarios.

i was expecting a little more, but i had ridiculously high expectations, and after listening to it a few times, i'm pretty happy with what near miss has given us here. now rectify is fantastic and it really stands out, but all the other tracks are catchy too, and once you learn the words it's all really fun to sing along too. i think max and jeremy's new album is much better than tom's "Now Rectify" is end of the year mixtape worthy. Seriously. really cool guys... really good cd. i will admit it's a little inconsistent, but nonetheless, the good songs are amazing. most of it is good btw these guys are a bunch of cunts who have no loyalty I think the cover art is great this band is horrible live and very boring. look at the cover/album title. it sounds like they are trying to be some emo band or "hip" band with their record title. lame. fuck this review. this record rocks. This is the most mediocre cd I've heard in a while. I don't love it. I don't hate it. It's just just. i can see Brain's complaints though i love the cd.. bigwig is better IMO but this cd is fairly sick. NearMiss is rockin' and they kill it live. At least check out this album for yourself. He was a tech / roadie for Sum 41. He didn't play drums for them. He did, however, play bass in Bigwig for a short time. more like i never should have quit my live sum 41 drummer gig for this LoLoLoL!!!! I really like this cd. I just take each song and see if I like them.....and I do. "Oh look...they nearly missed" -George Carlin Agreed. This is a real disappointment since I loved their first album. I won't be seeing any more of their shows i guess. Ric Flair baby Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! |
