i wish I could have gone to a show off this tour, seeing as A Wilhelm Scream are just about my 2nd favorite band off ALL time, The Lawrence Arms are definitely up there as well, and Lagwagon, although I never got huge into them were alway a great band and remains so today.

I saw this show in Minneapolis and for fucks sake...This tour was better than Warped.

Yeah, sorry about that. I've had kind of a bad/boring evening, so writing became suddenly very fun, and I went with it.

Also, I took offense to being even slightly misunderstood as "soft on rape". You understand.

Godfather....if you were by the bar, I was the guy in the black Strike Anywhere shirt that kept coming up to the end of it ordering. I was sidestage most of the time, but would run onstage every now and then for pic's and video. I also went into the crowd during TLA, and filmed "Your Gravest Words" from the front left of the crowd.

I wasn't commenting about what happened at the university. Really, I'm indifferent to that. I'd be pissed is some morons drunk fucked in my communal showers, IMO they should have both been kicked out.

I was commenting about what you said about America's views on rape, it seemed like you said they unfairly favored women, which just isn't true.

And everything you say is spoken like someone who never went to college (This is not a quote directed at your age. I'm referring to the incredibly uber-liberal, to the point that it irritates normal liberals, atmosphere of most colleges. It's something people rarely are exposed to outside of it. Everything I typed is the exact rundown of what went on. These two people engaged in consensual sex, and the guy got expelled for date rape, and ended up KILLING HIMSELF. He got a lifelong (though that life didn't last much longer) assocation with being a rapist. As I said, clear as day, this was not a case of a guy getting a girl drunk and taking advantage of her. They were both sober enough to stand up and have sex in a dorm shower (and that's pretty sober, as standing sex can be pretty hard to maneuver). They were both drunk. What is it in our society that says the male is always the aggressor? If they were both intoxicated, why is he a rapist and she a victim? How come we don't see it as her raping him, because that does happen.
Is it the age-old stereotype that all men are perverts and all women are sexless victims?
Remember, she never made a claim against him. She never claimed to be violated. The school found out and did all of this themselves. This is the same school that arrested the guy with the "This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb" sticker on his bike.
All I'm saying is that, until crap like this stops, real rape cases won't be taken as seriously as they should be.

Bottom line, how would you like to wake up one morning, after having drunken sex, and find yourself expelled from school and branded a rapist forever? Especially if the girl wasn't the one calling you a rapist?

My point wasn't that I won't ever believe a rape claim. But when it's a university calling something date rape, I will always want to know the details before I pass judgment because of the aforementioned case. That doesn't mean I won't call a rape a rape, because that would be idiotic, but I won't call something rape when I don't know anything about it, either. It's the same thing as when a junior high school teacher gets accused of sexually harrassing students. Even if it isn't true, usually that teacher can't get work as a teacher anymore because the accusations last longer than the truth.

I agree with everything else you said. The problem is that America instills a sense of male dominance that allows for some rape to be justified, but it also believes in that male dominance to a point that, if there's any alcohol involved, the sex is deemed nonconsensual, and the man is the one who the assault charges are levelled at. There are posters on college campuses that say that if a girl is drunk, she cannot legally give consent for sex. All well and good, but what happens when both the guy and girl are drunk? Neither of them are legally expected to be in the mindset to ask for or give consent. But if they have sex, somehow it was the man's responsibility and his alone to make sure they both wanted it to happen. I am not talking about instances in which a real rape occurred or the man was aggressive. I mean the cases where, sans alcohol, the sex would've been consensual. What do you do in that grey area? Do you call the man a rapist, the woman a victim and walk away, washing your hands of it all?

i saw this show when it was in montreal, and it was on a sunday night.

i dunno... i love wilhelm scream and the larry arms but i lagwagon was really just meh. i guess the problem is that i never got into them as a kid, cause to me now they just sounded like generic 90s pop/skate/punk.

I'll be going to this show in Santa Cruz on the 14th, so if you're there come up and say hi. I'll bring a bag of promo CDs to give to people.

Saw this show here in orlando last night! Oddly, the band I was looking most forward to seeing (Lawrence Arms) played my least favorite set of the night (a little to "Oh Calcutta" heavy). I hadn't seen lagwagon since the 1997 warped tour, but they were really good, I was never a huge lagwagon fan in the past, but I'm starting to enjoy them alot more than I used to, Joey's voice just took some getting used to for me (about ten years of getting used to, I guess.

Alright, this whole story honestly perturbed me as i couldnt believe brendan would do a thing, but hell you never know. after about an hour of internet searching/researching (while gettin' paid!) i am 97% sure that this whole incident is bs. this band Showoff is full of sexist assholes who got called out by brendan years ago. apparently they were jokingly telling a crowd to 'rape' a girl. later brendan onstage called them out on it and they wrote this song called 'anti-song' which sarcastically says that if something is to be 'punk' it has to be approved by brendan. they say fuck being pc and if you look around they love to call girls dumb sluts. and also i couldnt find shit relating to any date rape stuff at northern illinois (im not fucking paying to acces court documents). and if there was an incident in the last ten years it would be somewhere concidering how low date rape and convictions of such are looked at by the media. so basically showoff (what a goddamn awful band name) is pissed that brendan called them out onstage and their fans and them have perpetuated this slanderous rumor. i think at the first falcon show they should be led onstage and pelted with shit. and believe you me, there will be falcon shows....plus lets be honest, if anyone was going to pull a date rape incident it obviously would have been neil. captain hennessy. score is for the 'Arms

I saw this tour last night and I got to meet Neil from the Lawrence Arms! The Arms played Necrotism for me and my friend since we kept screaming it at them, lol.

Joey was drunk off his ass in Boston, and at the high points of every song he would do a metal scream, he still hit the notes though it was very impressive considering his intoxicated state

I went to last night's show. A Wilhelm Scream was good. Lagwagon was awesome. But I hate to say it.....Larry Arms is a better studio band than a live band. I've seen them 3 times, they aren't really that good.

this show restored a lot of my faith in pop-punk. when lagwagon closed with razor burn, i definitely lost my mind for about three minutes. i had already begun to accept that they weren't going to play it.

this tour will be topped by the larry arms, draft, blackout pact, methadones tour. but i was at this show in st louis and it was super fun. i gave bk a cd from my band.

Of course, music doesn't matter if it's punk, right? Actually, I'm betting that the reviewer wasn't smart enough to know how bad that sounded.

I mean getting to a point that wasn't so dependent on the guitar, where Brendan can carry the load on bass. They are a 3 piece, and they are certain parts in every song where it will sound like COMPLETE ass without a guitar, and other parts where you can just do a little improv bass solo.

Great review ... the lack of fanboy-emphasis on uber-complete setlists was refreshing.

I thought the "cream themselves over them" links were funny. Unfortunately, I missed this tour because I just couldn't make it to Detroit.

I wish this had come to Denver, such a great line up, sounds like an awesome show.
