Why does summer always suck for great package club tours? Oh, shit, I totally remember...

i wish I could have gone to a show off this tour, seeing as A Wilhelm Scream are just about my 2nd favorite band off ALL time, The Lawrence Arms are definitely up there as well, and Lagwagon, although I never got huge into them were alway a great band and remains so today. CAN't WAIT!!! "I don't have to know a rape victim to know how they feel. I can imagine." sickboi - i was at the end of the bar too - but at the end farthest from the stage...i probably saw you and had no idea...i had on a white hwm shirt and a black cap wasn't it not too long ago that this site raved about how great AWS are? now they just get swept under the "TLA is great" rug... I agree completely with this review. Yeah, sorry about that. I've had kind of a bad/boring evening, so writing became suddenly very fun, and I went with it. Godfather....if you were by the bar, I was the guy in the black Strike Anywhere shirt that kept coming up to the end of it ordering. I was sidestage most of the time, but would run onstage every now and then for pic's and video. I also went into the crowd during TLA, and filmed "Your Gravest Words" from the front left of the crowd. Cool yer jets, bruther. And everything you say is spoken like someone who never went to college (This is not a quote directed at your age. I'm referring to the incredibly uber-liberal, to the point that it irritates normal liberals, atmosphere of most colleges. It's something people rarely are exposed to outside of it. Even if you work for extreme activist organizations, there isn't much that compares to the type of lunacy you'll find in America's higher education facilities.). "2-I went to Ohio University. Once there, a guy and a girl went (just friends) went out for her 21st birthday. They both got drunk and had sex in a dorm shower. He was expelled for date rape, and ended up suing the school because a teacher called him a predator in the paper. The girl, however, was treated like a victim. Also, she didn't even say the guy raped her. She didn't claim to be a victim. As horrible a crime as rape is, this society likes to dilute that by calling two people having drunken sex the same as that guy raping the girl. So until I saw court records describing exactly what happened, I wouldn't believe it anyway." Good review, but someone really should have reviewed the Ted Leo show in Baltimore on the 2nd. It was fantastic. Was anyone else there? sickboi - yep...i live in baltimore now...and no kidding, i was even getting into AWS....i was mixed towards them going in and i'm still pretty mixed about their studio stuff; but goddamn they sounded good live! Godfather - You know what I just realized? Most of the regular posters on this website would gladly be raped by Brendan Kelly. i saw this show when it was in montreal, and it was on a sunday night. I'll be going to this show in Santa Cruz on the 14th, so if you're there come up and say hi. I'll bring a bag of promo CDs to give to people. No fucking way, I was THERE at that Falcon show. It was in fucking Pilsen, ask the band. "the falcon need to have their first practice before they can have their first show" -beeks "The falcon will not be doing any touring unless there is a demand for it. We will just be playing local chicago shows and maybe some in new york as of now." Can't wait to see this in Santa Cruz. Just to go further on the NIU date rape thing...Brendan didnt go to NIU...he went to Northwestern. One is in Dekalb, one is in Evanston. now i feel so stupid for not paying 800 dollars to chicago to see a show on this tour...fuck...i guess i shouldve remebered my formula of the lawrence arms > everything. Scott, yeah it was just such a good cheap shot I kinda had to say it. But let's be honest, I don't read, so I don't really know. the falcon show review is false. i asked brendan over a year ago and said toby made it up and that (at that point) he was still a pussy for never have been to chicago. ruse. that word is just the best Yeah, again, I have no idea where my original comment (the one that's from five years ago) came from. Like I said to Toby in our IM, people in Northern Illinois shittalk all the time. My deepest, sincerest and most heartfelt apologies go out to Brendan if he saw that. He's a killer dude and to the best of my knowledge has never harmed a hair on anyone's head. So...wait. Was that Falcon show review an April Fool's joke? I find it funny how the only people that went to it were anonymous and the people who knew nothing about the show but would have really wanted to go to it and lived in the neighborhood were registered. If that was a joke, then wow.... "anyone know if this is coming to the providence/boston area?" "you got duped like me, that falcon review was a ruse, no shows yet" hey godfather, how many songs did laggy play? they played a nice 23 in St.Louis holy shit, i was at this show! lagwagon's set was way too short...other than that, perfection you got duped like me, that falcon review was a ruse, no shows yet 1-The Falcon has already played their first show. Saw this show here in orlando last night! Oddly, the band I was looking most forward to seeing (Lawrence Arms) played my least favorite set of the night (a little to "Oh Calcutta" heavy). I hadn't seen lagwagon since the 1997 warped tour, but they were really good, I was never a huge lagwagon fan in the past, but I'm starting to enjoy them alot more than I used to, Joey's voice just took some getting used to for me (about ten years of getting used to, I guess. "Haha, I like how Toby gave up on disguising Scott's handle with several IMs to go." Alright, this whole story honestly perturbed me as i couldnt believe brendan would do a thing, but hell you never know. after about an hour of internet searching/researching (while gettin' paid!) i am 97% sure that this whole incident is bs. this band Showoff is full of sexist assholes who got called out by brendan years ago. apparently they were jokingly telling a crowd to 'rape' a girl. later brendan onstage called them out on it and they wrote this song called 'anti-song' which sarcastically says that if something is to be 'punk' it has to be approved by brendan. they say fuck being pc and if you look around they love to call girls dumb sluts. and also i couldnt find shit relating to any date rape stuff at northern illinois (im not fucking paying to acces court documents). and if there was an incident in the last ten years it would be somewhere concidering how low date rape and convictions of such are looked at by the media. so basically showoff (what a goddamn awful band name) is pissed that brendan called them out onstage and their fans and them have perpetuated this slanderous rumor. i think at the first falcon show they should be led onstage and pelted with shit. and believe you me, there will be falcon shows....plus lets be honest, if anyone was going to pull a date rape incident it obviously would have been neil. captain hennessy. score is for the 'Arms I think it's clear the only thing Scott ever raped was the sense of decency left in "underground" music publications. Haha, I like how Toby gave up on disguising Scott's handle with several IMs to go. there was no rape, scott admits to making the story up below. did he or didn't he rape that girl? God showoff sucks. To think they had Madonna(!) buying their way into the scene and they need to resort to this shit to get attention. Fuck these rapists. thanks for posting that toby, that shit made me a little sick to my stomach, i couldnt fathom that Pretty serious slander being thrown about. I asked our man Scott and he said I could post our IM exchange... great show, but i didnt understand why there were so many thug kids at philly. I saw this tour last night and I got to meet Neil from the Lawrence Arms! The Arms played Necrotism for me and my friend since we kept screaming it at them, lol. Joey was drunk off his ass in Boston, and at the high points of every song he would do a metal scream, he still hit the notes though it was very impressive considering his intoxicated state Yeah, I saw that. Scott was like 18 or something when he wrote it, so let's hope he was just shit-talking... "Just for the record, this band does suck. But about the rape thing: I don't know what Showoff sair or didn't say. I *do* know that Brendan Kelly [from the Arms/Broadways/Slapstick] has in fact raped a girl before [or 2, if I recall correctly] on campus [he goes/went to Northern Illinois University]. He was charged with date rape in both cases, I believe. So what's that old saying, something about not throwing stones in glass houses..." http://www.punknews.org/review/652 I went to last night's show. A Wilhelm Scream was good. Lagwagon was awesome. But I hate to say it.....Larry Arms is a better studio band than a live band. I've seen them 3 times, they aren't really that good. saw this in ATlanta. only bad thing was the venue's sound was pretty awful, or maybe it's their style, but I couldnt really hear the vocals on most of TLA songs. "For someone who knows so much about the guy, you'd think you get his name right. The real story behind this is that some major label punk band (who was bankrolled by Madonna) got called out so they made up bullshit stories. THAT you can ask anyone about, cuz that's the story. anyone know if this is coming to the providence/boston area? this show restored a lot of my faith in pop-punk. when lagwagon closed with razor burn, i definitely lost my mind for about three minutes. i had already begun to accept that they weren't going to play it. this tour will be topped by the larry arms, draft, blackout pact, methadones tour. but i was at this show in st louis and it was super fun. i gave bk a cd from my band. there's no links cuz it's a jealous, failed poser punk. "Brandon is an asshole. His head is way to big. Lets not forget he rapes young girls. Thats a fact its in the chicago police department. Look it up. Its what broke the broadways up!" "Actually if YOU knew anything about guitars you'd know that only guitars with a floating bridge such as a Floyd Rose that is not blocked off actually go out of tune when a string breaks, and that you almost never see a punk band play a guitar with this kind of bridge because a) it's only useful if you use a whammy bar, and b) it sounds terrible when a string breaks! Brandon is an asshole. His head is way to big. Lets not forget he rapes young girls. Thats a fact its in the chicago police department. Look it up. Its what broke the broadways up! How's that for intellugunt? "If you're trying to sound intelligent why do you come off as a complete moron?" i was a ripped but im a lucid drunk. also, joey cape is the man for taking my jabs in stride. in fact, somehow he turned all those jokes on me and made me look stupid. i just know when that video of the week is posted im selling my shit and moving to hollywood b.c im going to be FAMOUS, like john stamos style. I don't see why the reviewer thought that playing with a broken string was a sign of "professionalism." When a string breaks, the whole guitar immediately goes out of tune and sounds like shit. Of course, music doesn't matter if it's punk, right? Actually, I'm betting that the reviewer wasn't smart enough to know how bad that sounded. this show was amazing "Reviewer dude.. I mean getting to a point that wasn't so dependent on the guitar, where Brendan can carry the load on bass. They are a 3 piece, and they are certain parts in every song where it will sound like COMPLETE ass without a guitar, and other parts where you can just do a little improv bass solo. Of course, music doesn't matter if it's punk, right? Actually, I'm betting that the reviewer wasn't smart enough to know how bad that sounded. How do you mean, about transitioning the song? I think this show would have received a perfect score if Lagwagon had played "Bombs Away". Best Lagwagon song, ever. Reviewer dude.. Catching this show tonight in Ft. Lauderdale. Never really listened to Lagwagon, am going for the Larry Arms and AWS. That said, your comment about great club packages during the summer was spot-on. great tour, it's been said a bunch before, but you gotta love the arms. I thought the "cream themselves over them" links were funny. Unfortunately, I missed this tour because I just couldn't make it to Detroit. I wish this had come to Denver, such a great line up, sounds like an awesome show. here are the (drunk) setlists for those that asked i just want to say thanks to lagwagon/arms for the beer and that his show was beyond good... by the end of the lag set i could not see straight and i couldnt hear a damn thing for two days this was an amazing show Ha! Sickboi agrees with me! Resolve IS their best album! Also, they played "Your GRavest Words" in Chicago, if I recall correctly, so it's apparently on their set for this tour. Ha! Sickboi agrees with me! Resolve IS their best album! Reviewer dude.. seeing this tomorrow....... Lagwagon was so amazing. I checked this tour out in Toronto, and it was a really good show. I admit, I haven't listened to Lagwagon in eons, but it was nice to have fun again. Older crowd, must have been 90% 19 , I reccommend checking out this tour. im goin on august 11th! about resolve im not sure if its my favorite but i probably tie it for first with feelings also, this better be video of the week. and when i say video, i mean videos. and by videos, i mean all the larry arms and lagwagon sets. thanks. dang they played your gravest words? nice. |
