I don’t know at this point if I’d really consider it a ‘bad’ thing per se, but everything that Hellcat releases is essentially identical. Fast punk rock, with scruffy vocals and extremely heavy Rancid influence. I mean, if it works for them it works for them, right? At the same time though, you kind of wish they’d branch out a little bit, if nothing else, into some different kinds of punk.

Tim Again hmmm. let rancid do it. they're better. this album is such shit. or should i say daniel dart is such shit. he always goes on and on and on about how he had a rough upbringing, living on the streets etc... he never sings the truth though. never anything about his extremely wealthy family. his impulse buy lexus (wich royalties definitely didnt pay for) he is such an unoriginal, lack-luster, tool. not a drop of inspiration on this entire album. and come on, can you really trust a band of mormons? this album is such shit. or should i say daniel dart is such shit. he always goes on and on and on about how he had a rough upbringing, living on the streets etc... he never sings the truth though. never anything about his extremely wealthy family. his impulse buy lexus (wich royalties definitely didnt pay for) he is such an unoriginal, lack-luster, tool. not a drop of inspiration on this entire album. and come on, can you really trust a band of mormons? Despite the heavy heavy rancid influence, This album rocks! Does sound like a rancid album that isn't made by rancid, but theres no denying that it's punk as fuck I like time again, they sure aren't the best band around but they've got a few good songs. Saw them live last sunday in belgium. These guys just love punk rock and wanna play punk rock without any bullshit. This is one of the nicest bands i've ever met: hang out in the crowd with their fans, talking with all the kids, givin away free merchandise,... This is the most blatant attempt by a band to BE Rancid. How can you even try to sing like Tim Armstrong? Slurs and all? The songs sound like carbon copies of Let's Go and OCTW songs. I can't even watch a video without wanting to puke. It's one thing to be influenced by a band, perhaps even have a similar sound...but to sound just like them...it's called POSING! I 'm sure it strokes Tim's ego and that's why they are signed but they can keep it, cuz it's crap-o-la. I plan to go to one of their shows just to boo the hell out of these posers, these are the a-holes who are destroying punk and hooking a new generation of kids who don't know any better. this band is such a joke This album sounds a lot like Rancid. Kind of Let's Go...ish. I consider them kind of a filler band. It's been three years since Rancid last released anything, so in the meanwhile, I listen to things that sound like Rancid. These guys are the biggest posers in Hollywood. Apparently if you suck Tim's dick long enough, a record contract pops out. I don't know if you can compare these guys to Rancid, because Rancid is really consistant with good songs and have an original sound. That said, this band is not trying to be original, they're trying to pay tribute to bands they like, and they pull it off. Plus they're nice guys (I kind of know them). To the person who said more like tim again.... I just picked up the new Left Alone and I am very surprised and impressed with it, excluding the last two tracks. They sound like a melodic version of Rancid and in my opinion are much better than Time Again (even though both are good in their own right). Dude, how can you say that ALL the hellcat bands have a heavy RANID influence??? the first paragraph of this review is fucking awful. To be honest, rancid rocked, we only needed one of em. one thing that strikes me as being odd is that for the life of me, i can't find a single demo of this band before they got signed. usually there is something before the signing to a label that they were passing around. anyone know? cause if the stories that i have heard from alot of people are true....then this is just a rancid puppet band. i.e. an american idol band posing in the punk scene. it may be catchy, it may sound good, but i question this band. enjoy it if you like it...for me, im just caught up in the conspiracy. I just watched the video for "The Stories are True." It made me laugh a lot. its the same with fat wreck The only thing about the title track that doesn't sound like "Wolves" era Rancid is Tim's guest vocal. Time Again sounds like fake street punk. That said, there are two awesome tracks that remind me of Rancid circa "Wolves." Great album. Still can't figure out the signifance of the song Fountain and Formosa though?? My dad works right around the corner from that intersection and it seems like the most unassuming intersection in Hollywood. fuck. I submitted a review for this like two months ago and this cd certainly doesn't need two reviews. Dropkick is Hellcat. Agreed. Slackers is the best band on Hellcat. Slackers = best band on Hellcat I don't really have anything to say about this that hasn't already been said. They REALLY wish they were Rancid, but it's still fun as hell. considering rancid's success, being a replica could work for these guys. I know i'm a huge rancid fan, and they don't tour that much anymore (hopefully to change. new tour/album) hopefully the rancid clone thing works for them, i'm going to buy this cd... well i thought it was a superb album full of great songs....cold concrete, kenny, the stories are true, streetwalker. if anyone doubts me just visit youtube and watch the video for cold concrete. Fun, but sounds too much like Rancid. saying that everything hellcat releases is identical, is like saying that victory records has an extremely diverse stable of artists. Can we call this "R-Beat"? I second the comment that The Aggrolites are the best Hellcat band!!! The Aggrolites are the best Hellcat band. "with scruffy vocals" The music is kind of formulaic, but these guys put on a live show that's fun as hell. ewww At least Hellcat is releasing the new Westbound Train. Wow. I got this used about 2 months ago, and laughed my ass off. I hate to be an asshole, but Hellcat's released plenty of ska, dude. |
