Members of various revered screamo acts converge in Versoma to pay tribute to both noisy and shoegazer acts like Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, and it comes out sounding exactly like you can imagine -- which is both an awesome and mildly disappointing thing.

Coma Recovery? Stunning debut? Sonic Youth? Shoegaze? Please. Versoma's debut is decent but it still sounds like they haven't gotten this "gazecore" crap down completely yet. Lyrics are pretty weak but then again when did a punk band write good lyrics. Pick it up if you're into shoegaze or get Max Colby's discography instead. Two things: Score is for the Talking Heads' "Once In A Lifetime" (song and video). Score is for Pinhead Gunpowder. The two members that happened to be in all those rad emo/screamo bands have long since departed, so I suppose you could cut that ex-members list down to "lickgoldensky, and Anodyne". a lot of people like this but i think it's really bad Score is for the Talking Heads song of the same name; this disc sounds pretty mediocre. How is shoegaze post-hardcore? |
