I want to start off by stating i am by no means a die hard GG Allin fan one of his "Followers". However, you made several wrong statements. Gg Allin was nto signed to a major record label, if anything he would have shit on a major record deal and ate it. He also did not make a lot of money and was not a freak show like Gwar. GG i will admit had issues, i can not fully respect a man who rapes people. To masturbate on stage is somewhat funny- if its for an act. But GG was not an act, i do like the guys music, however his lifestyle is just to real for me. People like GWAR should not even be compared to GG, gwar has a lame ass story on the begging of there band somehow tied to the devil or soem gay ass shit just like ICP. Ill tell you write now the worse thing they do is shoot fake blood at there crowd. Where as GG would cut himself, fight with his audience, be fucking trippin on so many drugs, and so much more on and off stage. Like I said i dont respect him for his actions because i dont agree with them (they are funny) but i damn well respect the man for beign real... something very few ppl are these days. i try to be honest and real and not conform to society's vision of happiness as did he, however, to take it to the extreme he took it to was ridiculious. His reasoning on why he did things was completely irrational, however if he wanted to i give him and his fans 100% respect cause they knew what they were getting themselves into. The truth was, his actions could never help bennefit people, rapping cant make ppl stronger, the real "Streets" arent filled with guys like him. But i do like his music, and i do think he was a great speaker.

Score's for the record- GG's music really went downhill after the stuff with the Scumfucs/Texas Nazis somewhere in the mid-late 80s. When he started getting into the slower, more rock stuff- like this- is when I lost interest in his studio records but stayed fascinated by his life and live show. The person below who said he had sunk into self-parody by the time he died is right, at least musically.

..proves that you have no clue what you are talking about and should not be reviewing records. Regardless of whether you like this or not, AntiSeen and GG Allin have ZERO to do with "street punk". Street punk is under a true definition bands like Oxymore, Swingin Utters etc. On this site I would even give it a broad enough reach to cover all that unlistenable mall crap like Roger Mirets Disaster and the Street Dogs. There is no way you could ever connect those bands with this release unless you think TKO is a "street punk" label and therefore everyone thing on the label is part of that genre. That would obviously be stupid since there are hardly any bands on that label anymore that would even fit the loose definitions of that genre I mentioned above.

I don't know too much about GG, but he did he ever actually rape someone? If he did and then sings about it and gets money for doing that, that's wrong. But if not, I don't see a problem with singing about it. The Misfits sang about that kind of stuff all the time, and it was great. And sometimes I'll get in a mood where I really want to hear The Bronx's "History's Stranglers." That doesn't mean that they advocate murder or that I do. It's just MUSIC.

Also, categorizing what exactly advocating violence through art means is a slippery slope. Tons of people wanted Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho banned and claimed it advocated rape and murder, when really it does the opposite. You don't have to buy it if you don't want to, but art isn't going to hurt anybody.

So was Justin from The Locust. The difference is, GG Allin could provide enough material for a weeks worth of episodes just by being himself. Plus, he has no talent.

i don't know about this album, but gg allin with the jabbers is fucking amazing.. one of the best punk albums of all time. you gotta understand gg was a smart and talented individual but mental illness and drug abuse lead to him being viewed as trash... confrontational music is awesome

I'm giving this record 5 stars because it glorifies rape.

You could argue lots of things are part of punk. It doesn't make them interesting or good.

People take all of this a little too seriously. Saying that the lame 14 year old punxors who listen to GG to piss off their parents are supporting all racist rapists everywhere is total bullshit.

That said, I am totally lost on anyone over the age of 15 who would find GG Allin appealling. It comes off as total hick garbage. Not to say violence and blood have no place in music- Iggy and the Stooges/Black Flag shows prove that wrong. But the fact is that GG made pretty bad music and his live shows don't come off as anything but attention-baiting.

Petro, I couldn't agree more....the Jabbers stuff is excellent..i also have a wierd facination with the Aids Brigade album also...Hanging out w/ Jim is a great song!

Come on, not all of GG's music is bad...GG and the Jabbers were straight up good, and a couple of their songs(especially 'Don't Talk To Me') were up there with the best of the Pagans and Dead Boys. I dig the hell out of his early stuff....not as big a fan of his shit eater stab stab kill kill stuff, but I dn't feel a bit sorry for people who went to see him in that era and got hurt...because they knew what they were getting into. Thay could have stayed home.

I'd love to say that I'm alla bout GG Allin, in fact it seems to be expected of me, especially with the music that I myself write.
But I find Allin's recordings to be boring for the most part, the live show videos are enjoyable... in the same way as watching "World's Wildest Police Chases," or those NASCAR crash vids on Vs. are.

This is a great review. I clicked on it expecting a high-star review glorifying Allin for somehow being the epitome of punk rock, and thankfully I was wrong. Kudos for looking past the romanticized notions of Allin that exist and on seeing him for what he was - a violent, sexist, pathetic jackass.

For him being 'punk' and 'free' was to do anything and everything he wanted, taking amounts of drugs sufficient to kill whitney houston then cutting himself onstage, eating his own shit and spitting it at people, getting into fights with his audience and punching women in the face. His whole musical output is garbage, but for his fans I guess he just personified an idiotic idea of freedom that wasn't for anyone except himself.

G G Allin sucked harder than anybody has ever sucked before.

I'm invariably bored with the reviews (and the bands being reviewed) on this site. But this review is definitely commendable, a cut above the usual dreck. heck, it's miles above the usual dreck.

The reviewer really gets to the heart of it. Sorry, but Mr. Allin's "music" just isn't much. And it's impossible to review any of his recordings without regard to his actions, lifestyle, and (lack of) politics.

I know quite a lot about GG Allin. At one time I had a bizarre fascination with him. One of my bands actually opened for GG & The Murder Junkies in 1991. I shook his hand (before the show, when he was clean).

At the show, his antics, which seemed "funny" in theory, angered me. Sure, he was "wile" or whatever. But at the show I saw the first thing he did was kick a guy straight on in the face after running about ten feet, and he had cowboy boots on. From there on, he attacked many females in the audience and did the shit schtick, which (predictably) smelled foul in the way that diarreah/shit from the bowels from an AIDS infested junkie/alcoholic can.

Sure, you can do the old, "well, if you went to a GG concert, that's what you get" routine. But we're talking about real people here.

I think GG's fans (including myself before the show) were/are misguided teenagers with delusions of anarchy, worshiping a blind idiot god in the personification of GG.

I've seen many, many interviews with GG, and it's obvious that his intellect was, at best, limited. He had some vague justification for his actions (his "war") that was totally empty.

The truth is that GG was a pathetic, insane individual who had to resort to eating shit to gain any attention. And he didn't get that much attention as a shiteater.

His antics were basically infantile tantrums. Unfortunately, this misdirected anger at himself and the world has resulted in a twisted kind of postmortem sainthood.

I still have a weird interest in Mr. Allin, but not as a musician. Ultimately, he was a pathetic excuse for a human being. I'm sure his life was hell.

Now, back to the review. While the Antiseen sessions were some of the more coherent later period GG, that's not saying much. Allin had run out of ideas and become a parody long before he died.

Did he ever have any ideas?

Here is why you can disregard people who say rape isn't wrong: once you breach someone else's rights, you no longer have any. Sure, that sound kind of circular, but the person stating "I like to rape, and I don't see a problem with it!" has pretty much voided themselves from any form of freedom because they openly take it away from others. This makes them a threat to any human who supports others' freedom to exist. Once they are no longer a part of the social construct, what use are they? I don't really care what happens to people like that, just as long as death comes upon them swiftly.

Besides, what is a logicaly cohesive statement that makes it okay to rape someone? The only ones I can think of pay no attention to the human animals reliance on a social structure, and any theory that ignores that is just a bunch of babble.

So, who all saw this review and clicked on it assuming it was going to be written by FuckYouOiOiOi?
