Actually I feel quite weird writing this review for an album that came out in 95. The fact is you may have heard of Jimmy Eat World, but if you haven't heard of their release called "Clarity" then I do have a hard time understanding that you have heard Jimmy Eat World. This album is by far the best put out by one of the most creative bands. They play with a different style than most bands out there. Wheather you would call it "emo," "power pop," or metal, (for you metal heads) I call it sheer genius nothing short of one of the best albums of all time.

This record also holds probably one of the best songs ever! It's called "Your new Aesthetic." If you have never heard this song, I suggest you pull up your music program and download this right now. This song hits every mark with the vocals keeping your attention while the music seems to almost drowned away your thoughts. Other mentionable songs include: "Lucky Denver Mint," "Crush," and "Clarity."

This cd blows all of Jimmy Eat Worlds releases out of the water, leaving nothing behind. Tired of all the sell out pussy bands? Tired of the music that all sounds the same? If you are then what the hell are you waiting for? Go and get a band that will make you want to trash your other shit cds!

    This is a beautiful album, not "it's beautifully good", it sounds beautiful. This was my first JEW album, and still my favorite. Amazing, these guys know how to write a song.

    I can never describe with words how great this album is and what genre it is. I can't say they are "emo" (although all kinds of art are supposed to be emotional) because I consider the genre as "emocore". Whatever it is, Clarity is the best Jimmy Eat World album, and also one of the best albums of I-don't-know-what time (because it's timeless). My absolute favourite is a tie between "Your New Aestethics" and "Just Watch the Fireworks".

    I agree. Nothing from this genre even comes close. If I could only take one CD from the last 5 years It would be between this and 'The Stereo - Rewind & Record.'

    Great Album. One of the bests of all time. Best songs are (in my opinion) 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13. My favorites are 'Just Watch the Fireworks' and 'For me This is Heaven.'

    If I ever cease to love this disk, then I think I will be just another freek naked fingering a dead scorpio

    Umm... I don't think you should be rating this album if you don't like emo, dude. There are some reviews here that said it's sappy. It's frickin EMO! It's a great album, tho, and I agree, Your New Asthetic is the best song on it.

    You people rae re-re's Clarity was cut in 98, released in 99 on Capitol Records after their best album, Static Prevails. Jimmy is truly the best rock and roill band out htere today. nowhere in ANY oif their songs does the word metal come to mind. Dude you suck. www.abhor.org

    The reason I dislike this album is not because I have a "punk status-quo", I just think this band is overrated. Bleed American is a decent album, but thats as far as I go. Clarity is too emo-ish for my likings.

    This review blows. This album, however, is pure genius. In a time of Britney Spears and O-town, it's such a comfort to be able to put on this cd and know that someone out there is still coming up with truly beautiful music. BUY THIS DAMN ALBUM.

    A few things
    -it was realeased in 99 (sorry about that)
    -but i am pretty sure it was released by uni/dreamwork. thats what it said at cdnow. anyway sorry if thats wrong
    -to the guy about "goodbye sky harbor"
    It is in fact a very good song its just 12 minutes of the song is instramental which i dont like but it is up there dont know how i missed it.

    Because the vinly version was released on Big Wheel Rec.

    But I guess if you bought it on vinyl, you couldn't say "it's a good disc"?!

    No. I mean, I know its all opinion, and I love JEW, but come on. This is no where near "one of the best albums of all time". Its not even in the same ballpark. Bleed American is a better record than this, and I even prefer the Singles collection.

    Hum, i never heard anything about Dreamworks rereleasing it...but goddamn is this a good album...i bought it in 99 and never got into it until about a year later...so many layers of sound in this thing...you'll always hear something new in clarity....every song fucking rocks in some way (even the slow ones end up rocking) and "Clarity" is one of the best indy rock type songs around...i guess if you're a fan of Rival Schools and you haven't heard this, don't even bother downloading it, just buy it...

    while you were right about the release date for this album being wrong, you were wrong for correcting "rock" about the label: in 1999, yes, "clarity" WAS indeed released on capitol; HOWEVER, uni/dreamworks RE-RELEASED it earlier this year, i believe. i just thought i'd let you know...

    hi. that was an ok review i guess, but (not to be a prick) aren't you forgetting 'good bye sky harbor'? that is in my opinion one of the best songs ever recorded, its length and musical style certainly distinguish it as one of the most unique and vibrant songs on the record.

    Man this album is Jimmys' worst "static prevails" is pretty good and so is the singles collection..but I dont understand all the hype about them right now...They're ok to listen to, just not long periods of time.
