I loved Sounds Like Violence’s The Pistol EP. I was also very sure that it was lightning caught in a bottle, and that their long-delayed full-length debut, With Blood on My Hands, would be lackluster at best. Maybe that makes me a pessimist, but I’ve seen it happen far too many times to count.

All of those bands would sooner shoot themselves in the face than play with this lot. And if anyone has seriously compared this band to Jehu, then they really need to get a grip. This band plays boring 21st century rock music. It's about as far from emo as Fall Out Boy. "Though not exactly sonically similar, Sounds Like Violence would best fit on a stage with any of the stalwarts of 1990s emo: Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate, Roadside Monument, Texas Is the Reason, or the favorite of reviewers when describing this band, Drive Like Jehu." as the other guy mentioned, the cover art is atrocious. and this most certainly does not sound like mineral. Braid? no way in hell is this worth 9/10. solid if its your thing but up there with the greats of our time? Pass. Braid? sounds like shit Though not exactly sonically similar, Sounds Like Violence would best fit on a stage with any of the stalwarts of 1990s emo: Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate, Roadside Monument, Texas Is the Reason" "Though not exactly sonically similar, Sounds Like Violence would best fit on a stage with any of the stalwarts of 1990s emo: Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate, Roadside Monument, Texas Is the Reason" I emusic'ed this album and was pleasantly surprised. "and damn near close." |
