When you put this CD in your stereo and hit play, you're immediately drawn into the powerful songwriting on this album. Supersleth has been playing together for six years, and has gone through a progression of sounds, this is a re-issue of their debut full-length, originally released on Enerject in 1997. The sound on this CD is similar to Gorilla Biscuits, and that era of hardcore (There are covers by Minor Threat and Definite Choice), but the themes of the record go much farther than your run-of-the-mill hardcore band... racism, war, and the struggle to maintain your identity in a world full of things trying to change you... there's even a love song on here, and they're all good. Thirteen tracks make for one of the most solid hardcore CDs in my collection. Check these guys out.

this band was way better on their first seven inch. all downhill from there. way back in 98? you mean, three WHOLE years ago? These guys are cool..but My favorite Chicago band has to be 88fl or Horace Pinker. dude, the review I wrote for this was way better, mike, frankly I'm just a little disappointed...not in the CD, just the review. somebody at punknews.org...needs to find that and post the onew I wrote! I'll be greedy damnit! oh well, you can't have everything. Supersleuth is one of the most under-appreciated bands around. My fav quote from that album is "when it's time to make a choice between work and play, which one would I rather do everyday?" Are these guys still around? I remember way back in like 98 or something when my brother booked these guys to play an Amnesty International benefit. Ah, those were the days... |
