Another album by the Laggers...this time a more technical, more musically focused record than The 3 predecessors "Duh", "Trashed", and "Hoss" all of which were great albums, but a band has to take a different direction every one in a while.

Precisely what the band did. Not too much of a change though, Same Speedy melodic punk we have come to know so well from them, The production is a bit more polished, and you get to see the great guitar stylings of Ken Stringfellow and also a new drummer, Dave Raun.

As I said the punk is still there...but they throw in a more pop influenced element on these songs. Included with Ska, and just flat out rock as well. "Alien8" "Unfurnished" "Confession" "Smile" "Failure" and "To All my Friends" mark the records standouts...others like "Making Friends" "Twenty Seven" "Choke" and "One Thing to Live" are great too. And a song or two with a lackluster quality about them.

Great Guitar work, awesome Bass Lines some unhuman drum work, and Joeys' unmistakable voice. Another good Lagwagon effort..while not living up to Hoss, Or Trashed..It's a great chapter in the book of Lagwagon.

All of the Lagwagon reviews on this site need to be redone

    Great album though!

    Problematiclogic (April 6, 2007)

I remember when I bought this album, I listened to it from start to finished and thought it was terrible. Every listen after that I liked it more and more, and now it's one of my all-time favourites.

I think Lagwagon are the ultimate grower band.

    TheWise (November 26, 2006)

I love this album, 5 stars easy.
I found this review odd, because he named almost every song as good, yet gave the album 3 and a half. Weird.

I've been a huge fan of Lagwagon since about '95 when I first heard Mr. Coffee.

I have all their albums and DP is def my favourite, its not necessarily their best, but it could be! It’s definitely the most different.
I am a drummer, so this album has a special place in my CD collection for me, for the simple reason Dave's Rauns drumming is sublime! (As in amazing, not Sublime, the band!)

Derrick's work on the first 3 albums is shockingly good, and is pretty much no.1 influence on me, and RIP Derrick, your amazing.

Dave brings something new and fresh to the band, and too this album, as well as Ken and some other people. They have cello’s and stuff on this album!

Choke is my fave, but the album is like a book, listen to it from beginning to end - with an open mind, listen to everything going on, and listen to it good. THIS ALBUM ROCKS!

Basically you either Love or Hate this Lagwagon Album. You think its a masterpiece or a dud. I fucking Love it, Maybe there best in my eyes. It combines the raw sound of duh and trashed with there other two albums, even though this came out before ltaf. Thanks to Ken Stringfellow, the guitars sound fucking amazing, which is why one either loves the edgy, distorted sound sounds or hates it. Lagwagon is my Favortie Band and I cant wait to see them on the Warped 02 tour and for there NEW album. Bad Astronaut Kicks ass too.

trashed and duh suck, minus a few decent songs. i don't know what everyone else is talking about saying they're the best. hoss is pretty damn good, shit, its pretty great. but this cd is fucking amazing, seriously, its really good, despite the sound being a little weird, which doesn't bother me all that much. twenty-seven is the best lagwagon song ever. anyway, i still say lets talk about feelings is the best, its near perfect.

This is a decent Lagwagon album...but definitely not the best. I'm gonna stick with Trashed as my favorite. Dave Raun is a decnt drummer, but is pretty shitty in comparison to their original drummer, Derrick. He is fucking amazing! "Choke" and "Making Friends" are my favorite tracks.

    booker_pee (October 31, 2001)

My favourite Lagwagon album. It may sound unusual, but i just love the guitar tracks. Sounds like their so distorted they're broken. Love it.

kids dont like to share is the first track on hoss

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

Great album also check out bad astronaut they fuckin rock!

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

Update from the post i made just below this one...Kids dont like ot share is on HOSS. However Kids are all wrong is on LTAF

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

Actually isnt Kids dont like to share on Trashed?

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

Joey Cape himself said in a recent interview (I quote loosely), "We totally fucked up the production on ("Plaidinum"). We spent three weeks recording it and we mixed it in one night. It sounds horrible."

I agree with him. Decent songs ruined by muddy sound and toooo many guitars.

    harvey (October 30, 2001)

Good record. Definitely were trying to find an identity with this one--a good thing. Alien 8 and 27 are great tunes.

    coldjuly (October 30, 2001)

I thought "The Kids Don't Like to Share" was off of LTAF?

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

i disagree i think the prduction on this album is some of the best ive heard, anywhere!!! really bass and in your face!

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

I love lagwagon. I don't love this album. It's a good album, but I can't justify giving it a perfect score. It has some great songs, like Alien 8, and kids don't like to share, but even those songs don't measure up to Stokin' the neighbors, or Violins, or even May 16th. Its a good album, but its far from perfect.

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

i really like this album, but i don't think it's their best. the production really sucks. it seems really messy to me. it'd be cool if they re-recorded this album. you know, after they break up.

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

Alien8 rocks really, really hard.- fathead

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

Maximum respect for Lagwagon, They are in the first 3 bands that introduced me to Punk, with NOFX, and well another band I won't mention cause they suck now. Double Pladinum was the first Lagwagon Cd I bought and it still stands as one of my favorite records, as well as all the other albums by them.

    Anonymous (October 30, 2001)

its alright, but it sure aint Hoss

    imabigjerk (October 30, 2001)

gotta give it a 10 lagwagon can do no wrong.
