The Making Love EP is one of those reissues that seems questionable. Sure, Shiner were part of the early `90s indie rock scene that birthed bands like Hum and Sunny Day Real Estate, but they never approached the same sort of popularity or artistic value. In other words, they were a little less indie and a little more rock. Then there is the fact that the release in question is simply four live tracks and a cover of Bad Company’s (you guessed it) “Making Love,” all of which are rather unimpressive.

the life and times are excellent. the first track off of their full length floors me. Shiner is great. Go to one of these spots for some samples of their better stuff. To all PN readers, do not let this review or release taint your image of a great band that is FAR from average 90's alterna-rock. Score is for their albums "Lula Davinia", "Starless"< and "The Egg". Please check them out and don't just go by what Asshat Matt (hey, it rhymes) has to say about them. when you're a die-hard Shiner fan, you do strange things... |
