Avenged Sevenfold were the bees' knees with a handful of hardcore and metal fans when the band unleashed their seemingly tongue-in-cheek sophomore LP in 2003, Waking the Fallen. The ballads; the `80s hair metal nods; the over-the-top imagery; the terrible Hot Topic-fan-worship music video -- it had to be a bit sardonic, at least...right?. But then the band jumped to Warner shortly after the album's release and put out their major label debut in the form of a third-rate Guns 'N Roses worship collection, alienating 99% of their previous fanbase when we realized they were serious and they simultaneously started proudly flying Republican colors.

My friend showed me this band when i was asking what songs i should put on my ipod.....when i heard this band i loved them...i didnt realize they were a screaming band til a little later when i hit up info on them....there so talented in alotta ways.....people dont see the good things about them...and all that bullshit about how he cant scream is some dumbshit because its not true i have the ALL EXCESS video of them and the manager of the band makes it clear that, that rumor isnt true.....but M. shadows is fucking talented and synyster and im definantly going to the taste of chaos tour in san jose =] Ahahahahaha. Oh Jones, you are too funny. If you liked this band at any point in their career then I have to seriously question your intelligence. This album is abyssmal. Terrible music incarnate. "Not as good as City of Evil but it's still outstanding. This is ten times better than any punk rock album of 2007." wow, spot on review, I agree with every word and the star review. right on man. "Not as good as City of Evil but it's still outstanding. This is ten times better than any punk rock album of 2007." This album is terrible. I loved Waking the Fallen, and thoroughly enjoyed City of Evil as a guilty pleasure ... but this is complete unlistenable trash. Screaming is terrible. He did himself a favor when he damaged his vocal chords. I love his voice on this album, especially in the song "Gunslinger". If I'm not mistaken, M Shadows burst a blood vessel in his neck sometime after Waking the Fallen and he was forced to stop screaming, or possibly burst a blood vessel and die. Not as good as City of Evil but it's still outstanding. This is ten times better than any punk rock album of 2007. Sounding the seventh trumpet = 8 "A Little Piece of Heaven" and "Dear God" are two really good tracks on the CD.The rest is kinda meh. definitely better than city of evil, which isn't saying much..... Fuck avenged sevenfold Didn't anyone catch the influences that they said they'd had to write this record? Some of it really does sound like Korn. Holy mother of God, why in the fucking hell would anyone want to sound even remotely like Korn? This is bad even for A7X, and that's really really REALLY fucking bad. Score is for A Little Piece Of Heaven, the only good song on the album, and Unbound and Lost, the only other passable songs. Rest of the album is horrible. pretty amazing pretty amazing A sort of like the WIFS circus punk vibe going on in "A Little Piece of Heaven", and one of the other band members does a bit of lead vocals on a few tracks which is a nice break from Shadows' bland warbling, but overall this is outstandingly mediocre. Oh, god, this does sound like Avenged Sevenfold (who were a terrible band to begin with) caught Tim Burton's strand of Aspergers Syndrome. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet -awesome I finally heard this band a few nights ago, when a co-worker insisted on playing it. My fears and expectations were confirmed: score is for Zoey 101 being pregnant. i personally think new thrice amazing compared to this shit album. but hey, if listening to the soundtrack to the nightmare before christmas floats your boat then okay. these songs are really enjoyable. Music for duders. haha warner bros what the fuck were they thinking when they made this record. score is for the usage of "sardonic". up the mups. I think this album deserved a bit more of a ripping. I love the old Avenged Sevenfold records, but this is absolute shit. I've hated this band ever since that longwinded peice of shit self indulgent song they put out a few years ago with all the superfan fuckwits in it with massive avenge sevenfold tatoos across their faces. They must feel like A grade tools now. anyone read the review this got in rock sound? this band blows so much ass that their teeth actually have turned tainted brown. Shitfest Infinityfold. i listened to this once. the 8 minute song sounds like panic at the disco. but yeah, its disappointing i expected this to be a lot more entertaining. its just not. This band puts fruit in their buttholes. I really like "A Little Piece of Heaven". The first two songs are horrible though. I bought this album when it came out. Not impressed at all. A few decent songs. I'm still a fan of Waking the Fallen and Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, though. i like how there's a Dillinger Escape Plan review right below this. finally the kids have some new jams to get pumped too before football games... I still think Waking the Fallen was a pretty decent album. Getting voice lessons from the same dude who coached Axl Rose and Jessica Simpson definitely turned this band into a shitpile. Some very talented guitarists I will admit. |
