RitterYouth vs You (2008)self-released Reviewer Rating: Contributed by: Brian (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on March 7th 2008
Having favorably reviewed Ritter's last release, the 2004 EP Six Degrees of Variation, the band was more than excited to pass along a copy of what seems to be their first release since that time. Youth vs You is their long-time-coming debut full-length, and unfortunately doesn't hit quite as hard as its predecessor.

The only Ritter I know is a complete douche, which is leading me to completely dismiss this album without listening to it. Josh Ritter > Ritter I checked out their myspace page, and I loved their line about how the "scene" is more like a fashion show in "Once Hopeful...". I got an Alternative Press subscription recently (having read nothing but their most recent Jimmy Eat World interview and simply because Maxim & Stuff got boring and I need something to read on the can), and that thought has occurred to me many times as I page through the ads. The image shit is getting way out of control, damn near Poison/Enuff Z'Nuff/Cinderella-era level. I guess you could say this is the second wave of "hair bands". John Ritter > Ritter I don't know, from the songs on their myspace, it sounds pretty decent. | Features
