You, Me, And Everbody We Know is probably one of the east coast's biggest bands that you've never heard of. Touring consistently last year with bands like I Am the Avalance and the Pink Spiders, Maryland's YM&EWK has built a strong national following and a reputation for just being awesome. More recently, the band released a re-mastered, extended version (eight tracks) of their EP Party for the Grown and Sexy online for a free download with the help of absolutepunk.net.

Party is a fun release that rarely lets up in between the band's love for catchy group sing-along tunes and power-pop hooks. This is most evident on tracks like “...Because I Spit Hot Fire” along with the call-and-response vocals of “The Press War.”

Party showcases the band's musical range well, from the high-energy “Do It Again” to the more relaxed and mostly acoustic “Carolina Heat.” The latter is the album's most thoughtful tongue-twister, playing skillfully with wordplay (“but with empty stomachs and hungry eyes / our only choice was to swallow pride”). "Carolina Heat" ends wonderfully through reverb to its full band, album send-off.

YM&EWK is quickly becoming everyone's favorite band to brag to their friends about discovering and is just downright catchier than the bird flu. Be sure to check them out at SXSW this spring and at The Bamboozle.

this review reads like a fuckin' advert

    theyounginfluential (March 31, 2008)

best band out of baltimore right now: Oxes

    nick_heitman (March 31, 2008)

this band is on drive thru right?

    Showtyme (March 30, 2008)

These guys sound like a mix of Say Anything and Panic at he Disco...

    mean_and_Average (March 30, 2008)

beware the band with no label that has management AND booking

    GlassPipeMurder (March 30, 2008)

on the album it says "everyone" and in the first sentence you typed "everybody". just sayin'.

also, I really liked the movie. i don't know why anyone wouldn't like it...the internet conversation was probably the funniest couple minutes of any movie, ever. score is for that.

    Bipedcasserole (March 30, 2008)

since you didn't actually mention anything concerning what this band fucking sounds like, i'll pose this query: are they as obtuse and amateurishly pretentious as the film they're named for?

oh, who cares. naming your band after an awful movie is a pretty good indicator that you stink.

    douglas_is_rad (March 29, 2008)

No offense duder, but this review told me nothing about the release. It sounded like a big ad for the band. And the ad did not make me want to check them out.

    kevinh (March 29, 2008)

The singer of this band is the sweatiest dude ever. Also, huge head.

    im_john_galt (March 29, 2008)

"thewsuguy"? as in "the wsu guy"? as in "the washington state university guy"? so this is what they listen to in pullman. lame

    nick_heitman (March 29, 2008)

i mean the new trendy bands like all time low, the late night, burning rosewood, etc.

    Scruffy (March 29, 2008)

"these guys were sorta the only tolerable band from baltimore"

Are you saying the Liars Academy is not awesome?

    go-jimmy (March 29, 2008)

I second the shit ass-ness of the movie.

There was already a band called Juno, who released two amazing albums and a split with the dismemberment plan.

    nick_heitman (March 29, 2008)

they switched around "me" and "you", so they can't really be sued. it's weird to see people outside of baltimore liking these guys. these guys were sorta the only tolerable band from baltimore.

    danperrone (March 29, 2008)

    what a SHIT ASS movie

    wyzo (March 28, 2008)

Can't wait for Juno - the band.

Miranda july should suit your ass for boring use of another's movie title.

    phildisaster (March 28, 2008)

is this a review or a press release?

    Scruffy (March 28, 2008)

Them and The Devil Wears Prada should go on tour together.

    colin (March 28, 2008)

should not be considered a selling point

    shamrock13 (March 28, 2008)
