It makes perfect sense when you think about it. Try being a long-running band coming off a massively successful album with considerable critical and commercial acclaim; even the best would struggle with the expectations that come from the inevitable followup. However, being Green Day, rather than deliver something to ride the crest of the wave from American Idiot, the band decided to pretend they weren't the world's biggest punk band and head back into the garage for a love letter to `50s rock and roll.

This fucking sucks. high score for something with "low replay value" Very good album, lots of fun. It won't change anybody's life but I doubt anyone expected it to. to Scientistrock, they put out a 7" of Mother Mary/She's a Saint, Not a Celebrity. i didn't see anything on newbury's website, though. That video of Tre Cool is amazing. I don't see how this album can beat that video. the hot snakes did this way better. I wouldn't want to make a true followup to American Idiot, either. i agree with, and am in love with dante I forgot all about this. I should check it out, as I love mod/garage punk. It takes me back to old school Lookout with The Hi-Fives and shit. I love new wave music too, but The Network really didn't offer anything. From last year's EP, this sounds to be much more effective, and easier for the band, since their first three albums had a dash of surf-punk to it. Don't really like what I've heard of this too much. It's not bad but it's just not that impressive. The Network was interesting because they seemed to take the New Wave/punk influence and make something unique and fun. This is just Green Day playing garage rock. But I'm old and bitter. Isn't this band New Found Glory in disguise or something? physical release is doing well on interpunk. I hate mp3 releases i have to say, that's why i am waiting for the cd...which i think is due on the 20th may or something. I've heard the whole album though... and i think it's great. But then again, i don't think i've disliked anything any one member of green day has ever been involved in. well, except that clothes company mike dirnt invested in. Isn't the physical release for this next week? Also, what's the seven inch they got going on up at Newbury comics from these dudes? |
