Imagine your favorite pop-punk band. Got it? Now, imagine that band with breathtaking harmonies, amazing guitar riffs and a violin. Yes, a violin. Also, imagine that band is also able to play intricate acoustic songs. Sounds pretty damn good doesn't it? IT SOUNDS GREAT! This album is the pinnacle of pop-punk music. All of those other bands out there trying to make it big by riding the Blink wave are getting too damn boring, but Yellowcard gives them a swift kick in the ass and tells them to move aside. Better yet, despite their upbeat, poppy style, only a couple songs on this album are actually about girls, and they blow away almost all other love songs on the market. This means that you get catchy-as-all-hell songs without feeling depressed and rejected afterward. The album features a few acoustic songs, which seem to be a staple in modern-day releases. However, unlike a lot of bands, they are actually well done, rather than just taking a regular song and playing it on an acoustic guitar. Don't be surprised if you hear this young Florida quartet's masterpiece popping up when people begin discussing the best albums of 2001.

Yellowcard is brilliant....Ryan and Sean are both amazingly hott and everyone is so talented. they ARE NOT pop punk...god i hate that....they didnt sell out with Ocean Ave and they never will sell out...thye are not you average band..not jsut because of Sean jsut because they have a sound i have never heard before..some of thier songs give me chills...and make me cry. OH yea they were never in a fraternity..F*cking loser. YC ROX MY SOX Yellowcard has yet again made a incredibly awesome CD! This score is for the review. this is the best cd i have ever heard in my life! this is the best yellowcard cd. all the songs have lyrics that are so poetic that they come to life when sung. i love this cd! its the best! One For the Kids is yellowcards best work ever! there is without a doubt nothing better than one for the kids. all the songs are so good! Of course the album is aweomse. It's hard to beat Yellowcard. Classic! For a punk band to add a violin, its hard to get credit. But of course Yellowcard can make it work. They are fantastic! dogs fuck the pope your mother is a man Shitty emo/mall punk with a violin is still shitty emo/mall punk. Don't be fooled. Yellowcard is really in it's own league. They don't have a "genre." If you don't like them, who cares? They have enough fans already--including me. "seems you either love 'em or hate 'em...i love 'em...kinda sounds like inspection 12....good cd good band.... Yellowcard rocks because they are not from Canada. the only reason why they stand out from the pop punk crap is because of the violin. they're ehhhh. but i gotta admit, powder is one hell of a song. In today's market of pop-punk music its hard to find a good band. There are so many New Found Glory, Blink 182, and Good Charlotte rip-offs its almost sickening. Well than thank God for Yellowcard. This band has restrored my faith is pop-punk. This band take the typical pop-punk sound and add in cool vocal harmonies, great guitar riffing, and a violin. At first the violin can kinda be weird but then you realize it makes the music better. Also not all the lyrics are about girls, and the ones that are, are actually good. Buy this record now, its awesome! I'm a guy. Me and My Friends f*cked them too. Needed to use ribbed condoms for traction in the mud. Did I mention I'm 14? Meagen is 13 and Frannie is 12. We all fucked the band. It was fun stuff. I fucked the whole band. Including Frannie and Meagen, their groupies. the story of yellowcard "my friend is in a fraternity withthe violin player,,, yes a fraternity!!!! these are fucking posers and suck ass. i hate yellowcard...fucking frat boys" Anyone who says this cd sucks had shit for ears. And all you dicks that say all the Yellowcard guys are pozers don't know shit about Ryan, L.P etc. fuck off and go shoot some heroin into your balls. yellowcard is fucking awesome Yellowcard fucking blows. They put on a shitty live show too, I saw them open for the Lawrence Arms in late March and they fucking sucked, they're all such fucking losers that I hope they starve and die someday. Fuck them and fuck all of their fans. God they have a violin you guys dont need to dislike this. and there not cool because they have a violin its because they sound cool All I can say is Yellowcard's live show is amazing - I kept reading that it was great so I went thinking "Show me" well this past Saturday back in their home town they did just that!!I couldn't have been more proud of our hometown guys...so tight!! seems you either love 'em or hate 'em...i love 'em...kinda sounds like inspection 12....good cd good band.... my friend is in a fraternity withthe violin player,,, yes a fraternity!!!! these are fucking posers and suck ass. i hate yellowcard...fucking frat boys Yellowcard has become one of my favorite bands. I saw them here open for Mad caddies and Rise Against but I had heard their music before I saw them live. I was so blown away by their performance onstage (maybe they were so energetic 'cause they were cold) but they definitely are one special band in my eyes. If anyone likes Yellowcard and the whole violin thing, listen to the band Back in the Day, (http://mp3.com/back_in_the_day) They have horns too. But anyway, back to YC.. I think they're a truly awesome band no matter what anyone else thinks. it hurts my ears, literally bah! Oh My God website: http://www.ohmygodmusic.com Woah, this is to whoever commented on OH MY GOD from chicago below: does the world really need another "pop-punk" band? holy shit this is the worst excuse for ripping off new found glory and saves the day (who also, suck) I think Yellowcard is alright but nothing that great. Their lead singer is funny as hell but its not like their music is a reflection of how the actual band is. I've seen them a few times in my town since theyre from Jacksonville but this CD really sucks as to the whole pop-punk status. Once again I'd just like to reiterate that I hate stars and asterisks. What a joke, just cuz you have a violin player doesnt make you a good band, Shaun is a talented violinist and a super nice guy but to me they seemed like a gimmick, come on he does backflips off the stage...anyways thy played my club, they were alright but nothin special, you want special check out OH MY GOD from Chicago...they are gunna take over the world with their rock this is pretty bland pop-punk. but i really like the use of the violin. i think stuff like that should be used more often in punk and indie music. Well I really like this CD. Unfortunately, I did notice a few stars in the artwork. God, I hate stars. And astersisks. If you don't know what an asterisk is, it's this thing: *. I.e., it's the thing between The*Ataris. Those things fucking piss me off.--Big Letter Guy definitely not what i expected when i downloaded some of their shit, but they are way overrated. they get really boring.-fathead Damn -- take some absolutely horrid generic pop-punk songs, add a violin to it, and everyone thinks you're unique. it seems like every review I've ever read for this band the reviewer has a hard-on for them, I don't get it they're not that great Thats cool, my favorite band is the Ataris. I know I will get grilled for this but i dont see why people cut down bands for writting songs about girls. If its done right then it makes great lyrics for a song. The thing is I love music that I can relate to and in my life girls are a big part of it. -Rock Despite having a violinist to add flavor, this band still manages to write boring songs that you are sick of the second time you listen to them. A pop punk record whose coverart has the band members in school? BRILLIANT! Why didn't anyone think of this before?!?! No, no good. I really love this record... I'm sorry, but Antifreeze is terrible, in my opinion. They're just trying to be The*Ataris, but I like The*Ataris a whole lot better Yellowcard is amazing. The way their music style is is just so unique. Im tired of hearing bands that all sound the same. This band definetely has its own league. BUT in my opinion they dont even come close to Antifreeze who has three different singers. Check both these bands out for some of the best pop-punk you will hear. -Rock One of the best punk album of the year. No more else to say ! |
