Most people call this the best Ramones album ever. But that's because people generally just can't believe -- and never will -- that a band can, you know, have its first album as its best. How come? They're still so raw! And inexperienced! And insecure! No, let these kids suck in a few years of studio experience before they can release their best. After all, it can't be that different from a successful business career, can it? Do you start at the very top if you're in business? Of course not... So unless a band just releases one good album in its entire career as its first and all the rest turns out to be prime shit, the first album is always “flawed” and “raw” and “immature.” Besides, it makes for a great start when you're still gnawing your pencil and can't decide upon the first sentence.

Great Ramones album, I respect the review though, I mean the Ramones don't sound much different on this record at all to me. Yeah some songs are cheesey and pointless but so are pretty much all Ramones songs. my first album ever i love every note on this cd its pure punk at its best If you don't have this record by now you might as well give up. It takes a special kind of philistine to not get minimalism. It's not when your parents tell you to clean your room and you shove everything under the bed genius, it's stripping art to its fundamentals and relying on raw composition to carry the piece. the ramones are dead, this review is a joke. Yeah that review was pretty bad. I'm all for calling people out and shit and writting your own opinions. But this was just stupid. I consider this review pointless. This album, pretty much like the two previous, is the base of what the Ramones were in the 70s. The first three albums are a whole that by no means are repetitive but full of magic and raw energy in their own way. i'm still trying to get over the reviewer's labeling of the Ramones first album as a "joke album" I stopped reading when you called minimalism a joke. Green Day do a good cover of "Lobotomy." better than the original. by far. I don't like to do this, but this review is a fucking travesty. How can you review this album and not even mention "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", when you talk about every other song and B-side. I am all about straying from the norm and stating your opinion, but you overlooked one of the best songs on the album. I think it's pretty obvious how I feel about this band. They're the distillation of everything I love about rock music. One of the Top 10 best punk releases of all time, and maybe the best Ramones album a 4? Joke. Calling the Ramones minimalist approach a joke is reaching just a bit. They didn't really know how to play their instruments and just wanted to do rock and roll loud and fast. Their sound just happened and they were serious as anyone could be about it. |
