In the last All Time Low review, a user by the name of blacky646 commented under the negatively-scored panning by Anchors, saying (edited for your viewing pleasure): “I think it’s time you guys let younger people review pop-punk. Leave youth music alone.” So here I am, the “younger people” and it’s only gonna get worse, blacky.

So my good ol' hometown heroes have cooked up another uninspired disc devoid of any authenticity with It’s So Wrong, It’s Right, and frankly, won't get more than a "well, it's catchy" from me.

But to the point: This band is made for teenage girls. I mean, check the totally sweet lead-off track, "This Is How We Do," with its cute gang vocals and edgy-as-fuck lyrics like, "Boys, raise your glasses / Girls, shake those..." Was he going to say “asses”? Wow... these guys ROOL! I'm going to post those on my MySpace right now, matter of fact.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! Oh, no, sir! After countless tracks of the same song, we get to the band’s second single, “Dear Maria,” with more “cute” girl/alcohol references. Around this time of listening, All Time Low successfully removed all the remaining endearing qualities of the genre. Is this really what pop-punk is like now? ‘Cause if it is, you can count me out; I'd rather listen to Tom Delonge sing me a cappella renditions of Good Charlotte songs.

Being from Maryland and a sexy teenager, I constantly had this band shoved down my throat. But now this is my liberation. So to all you Marylanders: I do not like this band.

I feel so much better now.

    My Score:

Get over yourself. This sounds like New Found Glory but with better dual/backing vocals. The production isn't as good as "Put Up or Shut Up" but this is a solid record. If you don't like it then get your hot topic head out of your ass and at least give it a fair review.

I'm sorry that we keep having to meet like this but...

If you wanna be the first though, I'll take it!

    That IS what she said...

Posted by damnitsderek on 2008-09-06 20:10:21

No, but there's probably good reason for that. If you wanna be the first though, I'll take it!

Damnitsderek, has anyone ever told you you're a genius?

Posted by damnitsderek on 2008-09-04 18:11:18

That "Dear Maria" song is my sister's ringtone. And she get's calles all. the. fucking. time. I can't stand that shit.

Just start banging all of your sister's friends until they start calling you instead of her.

Posted by Scruffy on 2008-09-04 14:43:20

I just can't get over what you said. You can't be "good" at being "awful (or) mediocre". That's like saying "George Bush isn't a bad president. He's just really, really good at being terrible at running the country."

Posted by Scruffy on 2008-09-04 14:42:05

"I also think they're good at what they're doing - being a mediocre modern poppunk band with awful lyrics"

Being mediocre and having awful lyrics is not a genre. If you're using words like "mediocre" and "awful", that describes the quality of the band, not the style. I'm all for relativism, when in moderation. But sometimes you just have to say something sucks.

Posted by -Strewtho- on 2008-09-03 21:38:51

Good review, I know exactly what the band will sound like without ever having to hear a song.
Catchy does not equal good, if you don't agree then go and listen to a song from a group called "Busted".

"Cause if it is, you can count me out; I'd rather listen to Tom Delonge sing me a cappella renditions of Good Charlotte songs." - nice one.

I also think they're good at what they're doing - being a mediocre modern poppunk band with awful lyrics, so I'd rate it with a 5 or something like that, although I too think this genre sucks ass.

yea, i'll go on record as saying I love pop punk...Midtown, Saves The Day, NFG, Movielife, Allister, the first 2 Fall Out Boy albums, MxPx, Limp, Green Day, Blink 182, hell, even freakin Mest was great back in the day.

But this shit is bad. Its watered down NFG/Fall out Boy. compoletely derivative, trite/immature lyrics and rediculous marketing (the underwear photos). the vocals are also clearly autotuned to hell as well. this is as bad as pop punk gets, this is worse than the Starting Line. This is Simple Plan/Good Charlotte bad.

    My Score:

ive just heard a song from this band , it may be catchy but does that mean its good no, i like music and lyrics with substance just like everyone else has said here.

Posted by mikexdude on 2008-09-03 06:17:30

It's 6 in the morning and I spelled everything wrong... I have to go to school. Good lucky figuring out what I said.

Posted by mikexdude on 2008-09-03 06:16:20

I don't hate the style; I like pop-punk... everything from the Fall Out Boy to the Descendents. This, on the other hand, is pure trash... I won't even go as far as saying they do it wel. Frankly, I don't think they do.
Good at what they do? Sounds atrocious to me.

Reviews are personal opinion, how else cou;d it work?

I think it's fitting that at their nadir, Hopeless Records signed a band called All Time Low.

score is for that comment. best i've seen in a long fuckin time around these parts.

Posted by elephantdwarf on 2008-09-03 02:21:16

actually, a review is never anything more than personal taste when it comes down to it, unless it is written by a robot there is going to be bias. a riff that sounds good to one person can definitely be awful to another. that said... this band can disappear and the world would be better for it.

Posted by elliot on 2008-09-03 01:48:12

This is a hard album to review when you hate the style they're doing. To me, an album deserves a really low grade when the band is simply bad at what they do. All Time Low is actually great at what they do. Sure, the lyrics are kinda juvenile and meaningless, but aside from that, this stuff is pretty near perfect. Again, NOT something I'd want to listen to often, but you can't review based solely on personal taste.

Posted by mikexdude on 2008-09-02 22:46:06

This most certainly does NOT deserve more than a two. There is no potential that could help their case in being viewed as anything more than a generic, cookie cutter pop-punk band. Everything is cliche and conventional, from the vocals to the drop D guitars to the horribly immature lyrics.

"It's catchy" is all I got from it; that doesn't deserve shit.

And this probably sent like 9586790876 times because this computer sucks, but it only emphasizes my point!

Posted by elliot on 2008-09-02 22:25:36

I've listened to the album, and while it's not my thing, it's definitely better than a 2. Come on. You're just being antagonistic with a score like that.

Posted by mikexdude on 2008-09-02 21:27:06

Amen to the Stewart comment. These guys are definitely a modern-day Winger.

Posted by mikexdude on 2008-09-02 16:48:51

Atleast 80's metal took more than a good producer, a lot of those guys WERE talented. The wide range, guitar solos... etc.

    Posted by bathroom_surgery on 2008-09-02 16:26:40

In 10 years from now, everyone is gonna look back at this shitty girl-jeans wearing pop-with a punk beat trend an laugh at all these shitty bands just like they did with spandex hair metal and rap metal. I used to love Alternative Press, but now they're full of this shit.

Maybe in the future if they re-air Beavis & Butthead, they can paste All Time Low over that fat kid Stewart's Winger shirt.

I'm from Maryland and I had never heard of these guys until they were on punknews in their underwear or something.

    I must be too old.

Posted by mikexdude on 2008-09-02 15:17:30

Yo Garrett, you know a girl named Carolyn, right?

Posted by GarrettIrish on 2008-09-02 14:56:13

Funny Story, this band wanted 6,000 dollars to play a 30 minute set at a charity show at my high school. And the teenage girls running the show(for some reason picked over all the very organized types as well as the musician types) nearly payed them for it.

I'm also from Maryland and I dislike this band with intensity. That's before even listening to the pop drivel they call music.
