Up until now I can't say I've ever felt a need to visit Manitoba, but that all changed when I listened to a pop-punk band straight out of the prairies. They are 20 Pound Shovel, and if you haven't heard of them here in Ontario yet you will soon. Destined to be the next Alkaline Trio, the threesome comes at you with sexy riffs and eargasmic vocals, proving that Manitoba has a lot more to offer than giant bodies of water.

In terms of this site's usual readership (or at least those of us obnoxious enough to post our opinions all over it), this review is probably the worst thing you could've done for this band. It definitely makes me NOT want to check them out. One of the first things I learned when starting to write papers in high school (15 years ago) was "know your audience". The cover looks like it should be a "Kidz Bop" album cover. I have to agree with the fact that this is written as a press release vs. an actual review. did you even bother to listen to the bands you compared these guys to? A poppier Set Your Goals? Hahahahahahaha... can you get poppier than them while still being a punk band? TFP rules! i love dennis jaggard, and i prefer that scott left so we have both pulley AND tfp Score is for Ten Foot Pole! Don't ever mention All Time Low & TFP together please. That's such an insult to TFP. You know, a better reason to visit Manitoba, specifically Winnipeg, would be McPhillips Street Station, Teasers, and The Weakerthans. never heard these guys... score is for (Scott Radinsky era) Ten Foot Pole. this sounds like a fucking press-release. I'll be a little surprised if someone comes into this thinking to themselves, "Oh, Ten Foot Pole and All Time Low, now there are two bands I like. I should check this out." |
