I had heard alot of things about this band from Long Island. They had played here in West Palm Beach a bunch of times and there was quit the buzz going around about them at school everytime they'd come to town but I never got around to seeing them. I have also been a fan of many of the great bands that Long Island has been pumping out these days so the buzz and the background caused me to check out some of thier MP3s to see what the hype going around was about and I was so pleased with them I decided to the buy the CD. Unbelievable song writting. At first listen, the untrained ear may your simple, catchy, generic pop punk record. This is completley not true though. As a guitarist/songwriter myself, one of the first things that caught my attention were the extreme amounts of changes in the first song. Towards the end of the song I realized that only one part in the song had repeated, yet the song was one of the catchiest I've heard in a long time. Song after song of well composed songs, guitar sounds nothing short of briliant, intense and powerful lyrics and of course one of the most original voices to lead an emo/pop band in a long time. I'm not very firmiliar with Dying Wish Records but if they keep signing bands like this than they're on the right track. My favorite tracks on the cd were "Advanced Letter Goodbye" and "Downtime". I would seriously recomend Bayside's "Long Stories Short" to fans of Saves the Day, Midtown and the Get Up Kids. Please login or register to post comments. extremely hard to find now, but as a HUGE bayside fan, one of my favorites. Great Great Grea band in my opinion. They have a lot going for them and Anthony the lead singer used to work in a record shop up the block from where I live. He's a down to earth guy. The band is not mainly a Long Island band some of the members live in Queens. I can see them gaining a hige fan base in a year from now. i recently saw bayside as a 3 piece and spoke with thier singer briefly. I think that thier most recent direction is absolutly amazing. They are constantly reinventing themselves as a band and I admire the fact that they have no interest in fitting in anywhere or being excepted by anyone. They do what they do cause they love it. I think they are and have always been on the right track. From what I gathered from my conversation with thier singer if they were to become a big band, and in my opinion it's definitly going to be happening soon, they probably would'nt even notice or care. Amazing band with amazing views and morals. Bayside has come a long way, but there are definitely a lot of ups and downs to the band's present status. I think that although they still make great music, they lost the original bayside energy during the struggle to find a suitable line-up. It seems to me that this has weakened the once strong band that i knew, and it shows in their music. Its a shame that egos can break up bands. My advice to the current members of bayside: Don't let your heads get too big cause it will be dangerous to the health of your band and yourselves as individuals-in short-get over yourselves and back to your music. One of the better up and comming bands at the moment. This band is definitly going to do big things. Fantastic live show as well. This EP is pretty weak, but their new stuff is A LOT better. Check out songs like Loveless Wrists, Synonym For Acquiesce, and Nameless. The band has definitely matured since they recorded this CD. Those new songs are a lot better than anything on this EP. basic. shitty music. i just got their CD at the CBGB show, it kicks ass! that show was great too, these guys can really perform.. I used to think these guys weren't that good myself, but one time i saw them play at Continental in NYC, and they fuckin blew me away! i've been a fan ever since, and they've been playing alot of new stuff that hasn't been on any CD. i will not give them a break...stinky bands deserve to be called out as stinky bands. and no, i was not paying attention because...well...they are a stinky band. hey, i like to bag on bad bands, but i saw bayside with over it. Luckily, it wasnt the only time i saw them. But if you payed attention at all you wouldve heard them say repeatedly that their singer was sick, the other guitarist was trying to cover for him, and they were just playing so they could try and make the money to live i hate to bag on bands on websites, but i recently saw these guys with OVER IT and they were really sub-par. I realize that it's one of the coolest things about 'punk' that anyone can make a record and tour, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. Stay home, write songs, and practice until you are ready. | Features
