It's a treat to hear a band genuinely progress with each release, and after a couple of solid EPs Scream Hello appear to have hit their stride with the debut full-length, Everything Is Always Still Happening, a record full of emotive moments on opposite ends of the spectrum, intricate texturing and a certain relatable quality that's lost on many other 'emotional rock' records.

you guys play good!!! Everything Is Always Still Happening is my first taste of Scream Hello. After listening to it a few times I was a little disappointing. I don't know what I was expecting but Scream Hello didn't meet all of my expectations. A lot of the songs were rather lengthy and seemed out of place. I am gonna try and give it a few more listens and hopefully it will grow on me. Just to clarify - the Pastepunk 10th Anniversary MP3 comp will up until Nov. 16th - plenty of time to download to Scream Hello song! I love this record. On top of this just being released, their song on that new PastePunk.com is really good, probably my favorite on the whole comp. That and the Nakatomi Plaza jam. Get that comp, really good, i think it's up for free for another week or so. i think that this album was fantastic, while i do feel that "bullets" was alittle out of place on the album. also, they are amzing recorded, but i was also not impresse with their live sound. Their my space songs aren't bad...saw them open for the Gaslight Anthem and was not very impressed. I figured everyone was going to swing from their nuts since they played with Gaslight Anthem but it sounds better then I expected. Anybody else hear major Jim Adkins comparisons in the vocals? This album is great. I agree with the guy who said Red Leader puts out alot of great stuff because they do. i don't think i've ever used the term "beautiful" to describe an album before, but i can't think of any better relay how this record feels Holy fuck, I take that back: this is incredible. Red Leader has a lot of underrated bands, this is great. So good. They synthesized the Braid and Texas Is the Reason (those riffs in the opening song, man) influences into brilliant and original pop songwriting. Caverly is just a great storyteller, too. |
