On a first listen to Faunts' Feel.Love.Thining.Of., the listener might call Gibbard shennanigans and decry another melodically intricate electronic indie pop album in a post-Postal Service musical economy. In a closer examination, the songwriting hits closer to '82 than 2002. In a strange array of live instruments and electronic sampling, the band has sort of morphed itself into a musical cyborg -- is that the drummer playing through a filter, or did the laptop take over for the past four measures? And are those mopey vocals necessary?

I'm from Canada too, so does that make this even worse? Nope. Bore Fucking Ing. These guys got a boost in popularity from having one of their songs playing during the end credits of Mass Effect. I think a member or two work at Bioware. I thought it was an ok song but never enough to check them out beyond that. Maybe I'll go to the CD release and see if that changes my opinion. this shit sounds great, and since it's from Canada, this shit sounds really great I saw these guys not to long ago here in their home town. I'd never heard of them, but the place was packed when I got there and sold out as soon as I got in. Apparently they are a big deal. | Features
