I went into this one a skeptic. I was ready to talk about how I wished these guys would have broken up instead of the Gorgeous and rant about how weak melodic metalcore has become (or, arguably, has always been). As it turns out, I was totally wrong.

This sounds just like suicide season Score is for The Gorgeous. I miss that band. i actually got introduced to this band's music by their old singer's then-girlfriend before the first album was released. kinda liked them but i never got round to seeing them live. it's taken me a while to get fully into them, but i'd definitely go to one of their gigs now if i got the chance. Is this The Gadjits new band? First four seconds of this album are IMMENSE, then it tails off... My metalcore/screamo friens are absolutely ga-ga for this band. I think they're a rad band too... until they start singing. I find that with a lot of DISTORT bands. Architects is really heavy and loud and technical, but then they add all these really cheesy melodic emo parts out of nowhere that don't really fit in with the crushing metal songs. The same goes for A Textbook Tragedy -- a sick tech metalcore band that ruins their songs in favor for weak melodic parts. Nightmares was a good album, though everything else afterwards was pretty "meh". They had potential I guess. |
