Just when I thought Deep Elm was becoming the synonym to "emo" they surprise me big time with this very good hook-laden catchy album of Slowride. Jawbreaker is a band that comes to mind when listening to this, but even Green Day is a contender because of the pop-melodies that appear on it, although the guitarsound is much more mature and the raw, heartfelt voice of Phillips makes for an album that really will strike you when you can appreciate well worked out heartbreaking melodies. Really, this is one band to look out for in the near future considering this is their debut album.
