| The Aggroliteslive in Victoria2009 live show Review by: DarrenMcLeod See others by this writer Official MySpace (link) Only registered users can post comments Published on June 5th 2009
I live in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Victoria is located on Vancouver Island, which, in case you're wondering, is not where Vancouver is. Vancouver has a pretty great punk scene, Victoria does not. But for some odd reason, Victoria is home to arguably the best ska scene in the country. We are particularly blessed to have the Victoria Ska Society, a volunteer group which brings in great bands from around the world, and each year they host Victoria Ska Fest, the longest-running and largest ska festival in North America. As a bit of a teaser for Ska Fest this year, we were fortunate enough to have the Aggrolites playing with a couple of BC acts, Brand New Waves and the Easy Brothers, from Victoria and Vancouver, respectively.

The Aggrolites are playing the after-party for the Rancid/Rise Against show in KC on Friday. Pretty stoked. I'm assuming you can get them at the door, because I don't know how large of a crowd the Queers will gather. My friend bought an Aggrolites ticket at the door, and there are far more reggae/ska lovers in town than there are punks. But maybe since the Queers have been around longer, they'll attract more attention? Also, I think its the Queers' first time in town, so that could affect things to. So I'm gonna go see the Queers in Victoria on Thursday, should I order tickets online, or do you figure I'll be able to buy them at the door? So pissed I missed their show last weekend in Seattle. This band is my white whale at the moment! I will see them live or die trying. Score for the Aggrolites being one of the greatest live bands right now. this band is FUCKING GREAT!!!! |
