If there was a middle ground between Hot Water Music and Polar Bear Club, three really young kids from Ohio found it. Reverse the Curse's 2008 EP, Paths bustles and bristles with five bouts of the beard-punk sing-along side of the post-hardcore die. One dude's gruff and the other's, well, gravelly; while their vocals are curiously whiskey-soaked for some kids who may not even be 21 apiece, and generally strained to the point of needing a little adjusting to their choice of delivery, settling in means getting comfortable with a well-worn though totally fresh sound.

Some really promising stuff. This band is great. So much love for them. This record is being released on Lock and Key Collective. They were just finished like 2 days ago! best dudes ever, and the music is fuckin' awesome too! Wasn't too crazy about this until I saw them live. I was sold then. So good live, too. luv dem. The only thing to ever come out of Hiram, Ohio. Such an awesome little EP. Ditto on the artwork and the score. I've really only had time to give it 2 or 3 spins, but I remember liking it a lot more the 2nd time. And you can't go wrong with getting it for free. It's a really good introduction, but also something that can be improved upon on the next one. This sounds pretty good. The vocalist sounds like a mix between Tommy Corrigan and Chris Wollard's. Pretty awesome and great artwork. |
