PJ Harvey and John Parishlive in Philadelphia (2009)Island Records Reviewer Rating: Contributed by: Jelone (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on June 9th 2009
“I wonder what PJ Harvey’s internal monologue is like,” my girlfriend said as we drove home from the Trocadero Sunday, June 7. Given the frenetic, free-spirited dancing, toothy grins and incredibly disturbed discussions we’d just witnessed courtesy of the British alt-rock icon, it was a fair question. After several years away from the City of Brotherly Shove, Harvey made her glorious return to Philadelphia with John Parish, her partner behind this year’s excellent A Woman a Man Walked By. Accordingly, the duo stuck mostly to their two co-billed albums, 1996’s Dance Hall at Louse Point being the other release.

Not really of fan of the album that this tour supports, but always welcoming to anything PJ has done. Honestly, I've cared so little about mainstream Gen X alt-rock for so long now that I actually had PJ Harvey and Harvey Danger mixed up in my head before I googled it and cleared it up. Why? I could care less about my 311 review not being posted, but PJ Harvey really? With so many other releases out? SydBarrett420 is mad because his 311 review wasn't posted :,( no, and he thought this was PUNKnews :,( Dykes and and straight women who wear strap-ons and boss thier males counterparts around are stoked for this review. quality review as always jelone. i saw this in dc and you're spot on. pop parker got one chuckle out of me and then he quickly turned into one of the worst opening acts i've ever seen. this was my first time seeing pj and she owned that stage and that audience. truly amazing pipes from that petite woman. our show was held in a theater so no jerks to push through the crowd to get up front. and you're right, indie rock crowds tend to be totally obnoxious with all the chattering but everyone here was dead silent for all the quiet numbers before erupting in cheers. so far, my favorite show of the year and will likely remain that way. | Features
