| The Mummies / The Black CCslive in Brooklyn2009 live show Review by: Torgo See others by this writer Official Mummies Website (link) Only registered users can post comments Published on June 19th 2009
How do you feel when you find out one of the greatest garage punk bands of all time are reuniting and sold out two shows at your favorite venue before you knew tickets went on sale? Horrible. How do you feel when said band adds another show in close proximity and you’re able to secure your attendance? Joy.

Well, fuck me. It is indeed The Back C.C.s, I realized it after I submitted the review and hoped no one would call me out on it! If Brian sees this he should fix it... or not, doesn't bother me. It was "black" I think Russell and Trent mispronounced it on purpose. if you search it on youtube i posted footage from the maxwells show including "she lied". and i thought the openers were the "back" CCs? Hey, rinjonjori, they played she lied at the 7:30 show at Maxwell's. Goddamn. There were 3 cameras set up in this place filming everything. Please let this come out on dvd so I don't have to watch the bullshit I taped over and over and over and over and over and over and over just to relive this show. One of the best shows of my life. Worth the 18 years wait. I was ordering tickets, got sidetracked for 5 minutes and lost out. I will blame old age. Too bad they didn't play she lied fuck me for not going to this show. As someone who saw two of the three shows, this was the best. People would know "Dirty Robber" if they had Play Their Own Records...or listened to the Sonics. Great review. (and not just because I'm in it.) i love the mummies but have never been lucky enough to see them live. i envy you deeply, show sounds great! punk_sk: Someone at the show told me before the doors were open that they were walking around the streets of Brooklyn in the full Mummies outfits. Shouldn't this have the NN2S live icon next to it? Score is for the great, amazing review! I would not have guessed that they actually dressed like mummies. Fuck me. scores for how cool it would be if "Stronger Than Dirt" played every time I entered a room. |
