Let's face it: Since bands like the Movielife and Latterman have ended their influential pop-punk reign, Long Island has yet to seen somebody bring something fresh to the table (sorry Patent Pending, but no thanks).
Shit storms keep falling on my head / I can never catch a break / 16 going on extinct / And in just one weekend, I have managed to destroy myself / Throwing everything I have believed in out the window"Give this album a listen and you will be impressed; give it two listens and you will fall in love with this band. What's even greater is that the whole EP is streaming on their MySpace right, now so there's really no reason to not give them a chance. Please login or register to post comments. The album isn’t that bad I will give you that. It is nothing amazing, but it is nothing horrible. The only thing this bad has going for them is the singers voice, but its not like the voice is unique or something new, it is just good. great job dan and jeff, you guys have come a long way since brick, good luck with this shit in the future These guys are great. The Tomahawk Chop are pretty much the only punk band on Long Island I actually care about right now. Admitedly I kind of perferred when they had a bit more folk-punk in their sound...the first time I saw them, they sounded like a cross between Against Me and BTMI...but I digress, they still fucking rock, I just kind of preferred the old direction, personally. Dan's infectiously catchy, yet heart-wrenchingly sincere lyrics have this kind of knack for making you nostalgic for the present, if that makes any sense. Pay attention to these boys. They sound like they listened to a lot of Saves The Day, Taking Back Sunday, and a little Lifetime. Then they went on to record this. It's not bad, just kind of unoriginal and lacking anything that makes me think of it as sincere. This review really irks me. Its like you've known this band your entire life and are best friends with all of them. "The EP closes with your new favorite song, "Penny for My Thoughts." " This review may be rather poorly written, but don't let that deter you from giving this band a shot. The EP is really great, and they are a solid, solid band. Check them out. You'll thank yourself later. This sounds like one of their little brothers wrote this. Especially after actually hearing the music. What dlang said. I checked out the EP on their myspace. It's not bad. A step up from a straight mediocre 2.5 stars. It's no 4 star release though. It still has that local sound also. Don't forget to get your parents and grandparents to come comment here too. Making an account is free, easy, and quick. OOOO OOOO OOOOO OOOO OOOOO!!! OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOO!!!! Remember when there was nothing on TBS but the Atlanta Braves and The Andy Griffith Show? This is honestly one of my favorite releases of this year. Huge step up from the old 3 track demo! I want to have sex with Dan Clemens. So most of the commenters and the reviewer are members or friends of this band right? i wish that this was reviewed more objectively, and that the comments are basically just from friends of the band. if the score doesn't show up, it was a 5/5 Score is for the fact that they rule, hard. Favorite local pop punk band. Band is too good. Long Island's been waiting for this. Score is for Can't Slow Down. awesome ep Score is for The Third Estate. I think these guys used to be in that band. I saw them once like 3 years ago.. and I have these really crappy recordings of their songs on my computer.. and they're awesome. Excited to hear this. | Features
