Most recordings follow a basic formula. Big opener, more subtle songs tucked into the end, the big "hit" song at track 4 or 5, and a closer with actual closure. Not with Emergency and I. This is possibly the most unusual flowing album ever made, but the uniqueness of it just adds to how incredible this recording is. Please login or register to post comments. there is no perfect album, but this comes pretty goddamn close. This, to me, is as close to being completely original and assessable as anyone has come in a very, VERY long time. "Back and Forth" and "You are Invited" can be party fodder, "Girl O'clock" and "Gyroscope" are excellent breakup songs. "Life of Possibilities" and "Spiders in the Snow" are fantastic "Well, now what?" songs. One of my favorite albums ever. The Jitters isn't dull. It's perfect for this album, it's just slower. Great great great lyrics. 8 1/2 Minutes is about what you would do if the sun burned out. "The Jitters" is a bit boring, but the lyrics are great. This album rocks. ! is better though. nice review. actually, "8 12 Minutes" is about confronting your ex as the world ends in nuclear annihilation. interesting circumstances, no? A mind-blowing piece of music. When doves cry, you are an ass... You did this incredible gift of music no justic at all. You sir, are a literary travesty. Please do not submit any more reviews. You sicken me. This band is soooooo good. |
